The M.S. in Architecture program is an advanced post-professional, research- based degree, featuring two concentrations: Façade Design and Technology and High Performance Building. This degree prepares students for specialist and consulting positions in the broad field of the built environment in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

Recognizing that the architecture profession is constantly changing, the program is designed to fit current industry needs and is adaptable as requirements and expertise evolves. As a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to focus your studies on a specific area of architecture to directly apply your research to your current work or to fit your career path. The MS provides its graduates with an additional credential that enables them to pursue research and entrepreneurial practices, careers in academia or expand the knowledge of the profession. It is expected that students will have previous experience in the technical and professional aspects of building design with a degree in architecture, engineering or other related field. The typical program length is three or four semesters.

Jefferson’s M.S. in Historic Preservation not only prepares graduates to preserve historic buildings and sites, but also to re-envision and re-purpose the past to serve present and future needs. The curriculum foregrounds adaptive reuse of historic structures as well as in-depth analysis through historical research and graphic documentation. Students develop skills fundamental to assess the condition and evolution of buildings and promote the ways historic structures order the urban fabric, contribute to healthy communities, and facilitate “place-making” as a catalyst for community revitalization. Students apply new and rapidly evolving digital technologies for managing, documenting and interpreting culturally significant structures and places.

As the first UNESCO World Heritage City in the United States, Philadelphia is a living laboratory of architectural styles and periods, offering a wealth of real-world projects and internship opportunities utilizing buildings and technologies, dating from 18th century Georgian through mid-20th century Modern.

At Jefferson’s new Center for the Preservation of Modernism, students develop preservation protocols tailored to the unique character of early and mid-century modern architecture, the next preservation frontier as these buildings age, and may study the preservation of modernist architecture abroad at the iconic Bauhaus Building in Dessau, Germany or at the Giuseppe Terragni Archive in Como, Italy.
Students customize their course of study by selecting one of two tracks: Research and Documentation; or Preservation Design; and specialize in a field compatible with their track drawn from the College of Architecture and the Built Environment’s graduate offerings including Sustainable Design, Geographic Information Systems, Façade Technologies, Architectural History or Real Estate Development. The curriculum affords students the freedom to explore topics that suit their interests and further their professional goals.

The Master of Science degree in Construction Management (MSCM), a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program, is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to plan and manage each phase of the construction process as applied to complex commercial, infrastructure and residential building projects. The mission of the program is to provide students with a broad practice–oriented understanding of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering, with specific emphasis on the management of the construction process from project inception to close-out. Courses within the program are designed to prepare graduates to excel in leadership positions, with a focus on building quality projects, safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.

Hands-on activities allow students to learn and excel in construction-related activities and software applications. Classes are offered in an on campus (day and evening), hybrid, and/or online version to allow students to have the flexibility of planning their schedules and continuing to work in their jobs.

When you come to Thomas Jefferson University, you join a fashion design program that is modeled on the fashion industry and you should prepare to immerse yourself in the world of fashion. You will be transformed into a fashion design professional through hands-on experience with computerized design and production equipment while also building a strong foundation in design and technical courses.

During your time at Thomas Jefferson University, you will also have the opportunity to add an international dimension to your education by participating in our study abroad programs at international fashion centers like London and Rome, or through short courses in other fashion hubs around the world. The TJU fashion design program prepares you to influence the fashion design world. Our alumni work as fashion professionals in all areas and levels of the fashion industry, following in the footsteps of our distinguished faculty who have served as leaders in both the design and production sides of the fashion industry. With such a strong network of fashion expertise, you will have plenty of opportunities to land coveted internships and start careers in companies including PVH, Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie, Free People, Coach, Nannette Lepore, BCBG Maxazria, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, and Vogue Magazine.

The Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology Program offers choices for career specialization with flexible schedules, professional training for academic credit and academic preparation for national professional certification.

The broad-based curriculum includes a minimum of 40 credits. Course content includes:

Master's research thesis or, alternatively, a Non-Thesis Option
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Jefferson's active, collaborative approach to education in our Nexus Learning model is the foundation of this program’s curriculum. In a hands-on learning environment, students examine new fashion designs, ideas and technologies to create viable business models and market-driven innovation. In addition to the 22 core credit hours, the MSGFE program culminates in 9 credits of Global Fashion Project courses. This unique experience allows for significant customization for students to meet career aspirations. In these courses, students from disparate backgrounds work in teams to find new product or system opportunities, then design and prototype functional products or systems that answer the requirements of their research findings. Students also benefit from the projects by working directly with successful fashion and apparel companies. Regular meetings with outside project stakeholders take place to give students networking opportunities that may translate into exciting internship and employment opportunities.

Jefferson’s M.S. in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign leverages GIS and advanced geospatial technologies in identifying and finding innovative solutions to urban design and urban planning problems. Emphasizing GIS-based tools, 3D parametric design and modeling, sustainable design approaches, collaboration and innovation within an integrated process, this STEM-designated graduate program is intended to empower students to find resilient solutions to 21st century urban challenges resulting from population growth, decreasing resources, natural disasters, and climate change. Geodesign is sustainability in practice, and our graduates are leaders in this innovative field.

Geospatial technology for geodesign students are directly involved in collaborative applied research projects with industry partners, state and federal agencies, and community partnerships. They work with advanced technologies including parametric 3D modeling, spatial data collection using emerging technologies such as LiDAR, UAVs (drones), UAV-based photogrammetry, advanced geospatial mobile applications, and BIM while they help develop and test new tools that inform future industry software. Graduates possess highly sought-after GIS skills and are well prepared for dynamic careers in interdisciplinary firms, state and federal agencies, NGOs, academia and more.

The MS in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign is a 36-credit post professional degree open to those interested in GIS and the allied design disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, planning and engineering, as well as students with backgrounds or interest in GIS. Classes are offered on a full-time or part-time basis and are held in the evenings and Saturdays in order to meet the needs of our professional students.

The M.S. in Textile Technology at Jefferson offers an integrated and collaborative curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with experiential laboratory experiences. In many courses students turn innovative ideas into original products.  It is expected that graduates of the program will pursue careers in production, product evaluation, research and development, or management in the textile and apparel related fields.

The program teaches cutting-edge technical textile processes to students interested in learning more about the science and technical based aspects of textiles. Courses focus on development, production, and characterization of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and textile based products.   The program combines theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on experience with weaving, knitting, nonwovens, and composites production equipment in the innovative Fashion and Textiles Futures Center, as well as materials evaluation equipment in the Grundy Lab on the East Falls campus.

A unique balance of psychology and science will give you a distinctive edge and prepare you for a wide variety of graduate school programs.
In this program, you will study psychology alongside biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, making this an ideal first step into further studies in a variety of experimental psychology settings, neuroscience, health fields, and scientific research.

You will work closely with faculty to develop an avenue of career possibilities. First, you select a concentration option – pre-medical or graduate school – allowing you to adapt your curriculum to your career goals and interests.

You will also learn to conduct professional-level research, completing an independent research project your senior year. During your time in the program, you can further enrich your education with internships in research, legal and educational settings; or study abroad anywhere in the world.

The marketing program at Thomas Jefferson University prepares students to become professionals with a broad understanding of business, communication, sales and research.

As a marketing student, you will benefit from dynamic, multidisciplinary training in multimedia communications and business. Additionally, you will learn to analyze demand and market segments, design budgets and campaigns, increase a company’s brand equity, and formulate marketing plans from start to finish.
