The Master of Science Program in Cell & Developmental Biology prepares its graduates for positions in research and development in academia, industry and government. Graduates may be employed as basic research scientists in academic institutions and industrial positions, or may go on to further study in PhD and professional doctoral programs.

This program consists of a core basic science curriculum in cell and developmental biology, supplemented with elective courses suited to individual career interests in the basic sciences or in management. Students in our program receive training in theoretical, experimental and practical aspects of normal cell development as well as abnormal aspects of these processes, which may cause birth defects or disease.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

You will be transformed into a fashion design professional through hands-on experience with computerized design and production equipment while also building a strong foundation in design and technical courses.

The TJU fashion design program prepares you to influence the fashion design world. Our alumni work as fashion professionals in all areas and levels of the fashion industry, following in the footsteps of our distinguished faculty who have served as leaders in both the design and production sides of the fashion industry. With such a strong network of fashion expertise, you will have plenty of opportunities to land coveted internships and start careers in companies including PVH, Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie, Free People, Coach, Nannette Lepore, BCBG Maxazria, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, and Vogue Magazine.

The Master of Science Program in Pharmacology prepares graduates for positions in:

• Research and development
• Research management
• Clinical trials
• Toxicology review and assessment

Graduates have been accepted into PhD and professional degree programs.
The MS Pharmacology Program also offers a track in Human Investigation. This track is for residents and fellows doing post-graduate clinical training.

Students applying to the Program should have taken undergraduate general and organic chemistry courses and at least one biology course. An undergraduate biochemistry course is strongly recommended, but not required.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologists use non-ionizing radio frequency electromagnetic waves (low-energy electromagnetic waves in conjunction with a magnetic field) to generate image contrast and create a 3-dimensional image of a part of the body. MRI technologists operate MRI and related auxiliary equipment, perform venipuncture and communicate with radiologists, members of the health care team, patients and their families.

MRI technologists work directly with healthy and critically ill inpatients and outpatients of all ages. They must be able to move and lift patients from exam tables to and from MRI scanning rooms, sit at computer consoles in a small, low-lit room and adhere to safety policies working in or near a magnetic field.

To perform/assist with MRI procedures on patients, students must initially under­go the same screening procedures as patients in order to enter the scan room. The MRI scan room contains a region of intense magnetic field. Objects that dis­play any form of ferromagnetism are therefore of particular concern for MRI. Contraindications for entering the MRI scan room include:

• Certain biomedical implants, materials, and devices (e.g., aneurysm clips, brain clips)
• Certain electrically, magnetically and mechanically activated implants and devices (e.g., cardiac pacemakers, cochlear implants)
• Certain metallic foreign objects (e.g., shrapnel, bullets, metal in eyes)

MRI students must be re-screened for MRI safety clearance, should their status change during the academic year, with regard to any potentially hazardous implants, devices, or objects, prior to MRI rotations or observations.

Medical laboratory scientists work behind the scenes in laboratories to provide clinicians with test results needed to diagnose, treat, and manage their patients’ conditions. Blood, body fluids, and other patient specimens are analyzed using manual methods and state-of-the-art instrumentation to test for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, infection, anemia, and leukemia.

Become a biologist through hands-on practice, with the flexibility to gain field experience studying abroad anywhere in the world.

Customize your education to best suit your interests, whatever they may be.  You will learn how to inquire, research, hypothesize, experiment and analyze until the scientific method becomes second-nature. You will never be expected to simply memorize facts from a textbook – you will have to create your own experiments to evaluate scientific phenomena for yourself.

Interdisciplinary Studies majors become effective professionals who are skilled communicators and solvers of complex social, civic, and professional issues—in local, national or global contexts. Through experience in a variety of liberal arts and professional methodologies, you will become a skilled researcher and thinker who not only knows where to look for information but also is able to assess how to apply disciplinary strengths in innovative ways to a variety of existing and emerging professions.

The M.S. in Textile Technology at Jefferson offers an integrated and collaborative curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with experiential laboratory experiences. In many courses students turn innovative ideas into original products.  It is expected that graduates of the program will pursue careers in production, product evaluation, research and development, or management in the textile and apparel related fields.

The program teaches cutting-edge technical textile processes to students interested in learning more about the science and technical based aspects of textiles. Courses focus on development, production, and characterization of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and textile based products.   The program combines theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on experience with weaving, knitting, nonwovens, and composites production equipment in the innovative Fashion and Textiles Futures Center, as well as materials evaluation equipment in the Grundy Lab on the East Falls campus.

The Master of Science degree in Construction Management (MSCM), a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program, is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to plan and manage each phase of the construction process as applied to complex commercial, infrastructure and residential building projects. The mission of the program is to provide students with a broad practice–oriented understanding of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering, with specific emphasis on the management of the construction process from project inception to close-out. Courses within the program are designed to prepare graduates to excel in leadership positions, with a focus on building quality projects, safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.

Hands-on activities allow students to learn and excel in construction-related activities and software applications. Classes are offered in an on campus (day and evening), hybrid, and/or online version to allow students to have the flexibility of planning their schedules and continuing to work in their jobs.

The B.S.E. in Engineering program at Jefferson Thomas Jefferson University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The program will prepare you with a breadth of engineering skills and knowledge while developing specific expertise and analytical skills in an area of technical concentration, including:

• Industrial and Systems Engineering
• Textile Engineering

You will begin developing science, math, and engineering analysis skills in foundational courses. As a sophomore, you will select your area of concentration.

Through applied coursework culminating with a two-semester senior design project, you will gain hands-on, real world experience allowing you to obtain professional licensure, succeed in industry, pursue graduate studies, or start a business in your specialized concentration or in general engineering practice.
