The B.A. and the B.S. in biology can both provide students with the experience and knowledge necessary to have a successful career. A B.A. in biology requires 20 approved hours from Math, Physics, or Chemistry department courses. The B.A. has a more flexible supporting area and is a particularly appealing option for students who would like to combine their biology degree with another area of emphasis.

The Integrative Data Science major is a technology-oriented liberal arts major that brings together twenty-first century skills in computer programming, quantitative reasoning, collaboration, communication, design, and creative thinking. Students who pursue this major will develop the skills to collaborate with and lead interdisciplinary teams in many industries. By taking courses and pursuing internships in a range of disciplines, students will acquire flexible and integrative problem-solving skills for a rapidly-changing professional environment.

The choice of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is available to political science majors. If a student has a second major, the degree choice may be determined by the other major.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for those students who want a solid physics education with a broad liberal arts background and will be pursuing further education or employment in fields other than physics or engineering.

Students work with advisors to build an individualized course of study in multiple areas of interest. For example, you can combine acting with directing, musical theatre with playwriting, or costume design with stage management.

You can also craft an interdisciplinary BFA degree combining multiple departments in a single course of study, such as theatre design and art history, directing and business management, acting and psychology.

Admission into the Education Department and additional education departmental coursework is required. This major is designed to prepare students for the teaching profession in Health and Physical Education. With the addition of approximately 37 hours of education requirements, the student will be eligible for a Nebraska Teaching Certificate.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in economics. Economics is traditionally viewed as a liberal arts major and therefore students often choose the B.A. degree.

This subject endorsement is designed to prepare students for the teaching profession in Physical Education. With the addition of approximately 37 hours of education requirements, the student will be eligible for a Nebraska Teaching Certificate.

The program’s curriculum is split into a generalist curriculum and a specialized curriculum. The generalist curriculum consists of 32 credits hours, including the completion of a 400-hour practicum experience. Once students have completed the generalist curriculum, they will be allowed to progress to the specialized curriculum, which consists of 34 credit hours of advanced coursework, including a minimum of 500 hours of practicum experience. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program may be able to begin the program with advanced standing and start directly into the specialized curriculum.
