This BFA program develops your skills as a director through experiences in the classroom and performance laboratory. In recent years, our BFA students have participated in an average of six productions a year.

Directing majors benefit from Nebraska Wesleyan's active production schedule and opportunities to direct shows can begin as early as the second semester of their sophomore year.

We also encourage directing majors to work closely with faculty as members of the production team and in stage management.

As the most popular Health and Human Performance major, nearly 50% of our Exercise Science students apply to graduate schools to study physical therapy, physician’s assistant, chiropractic or occupational therapy. An internship and a full-year of research and statistics are required.

Students interested in health-related professions such as physical therapy, occupational therapy and chiropractics may elect to major in Exercise Science. Students should consult with their advisor regarding pre professional requirements and suggested program of study.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in Business Administration. If you choose to graduate with two majors, and one major is only offered as a B.A. or B.S., the second major should match the first degree.

The B.A. in art requires an exposure to two-dimensional and three-dimensional media and art history. It can lead to graduate study in art, art history, art therapy or other academic or professional areas.

Students who wish to pursue the PK-12 teaching certificate will also include two methods courses in addition to the requirements for the B.A. in Art: ART 1000 Art in the PK-Elementary School and ART 2000 Art in the Secondary School, for a total of 58 hours in Art. Students will also take additional courses in the department of Education (Secondary Education Endorsement) to meet Nebraska certification education requirements.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for those students who want a solid physics education with a broad liberal arts background and will be pursuing further education or employment in fields other than physics or engineering.

NWU Gender Studies is Nebraska Wesleyan’s most interdisciplinary academic program. It features professors from 11 fields of study—men and women who teach everything from anthropology to theatre.

Because gender influences so many fields—from health science to history—gender studies is a popular choice among NWU students with multiple majors. Their appreciation of gender’s complexity makes them better professionals, no matter which fields they choose for their careers.

Take business as one example. Competence in gender issues will give you a better understanding of your customers, your employees, your partners and the organizations around you. You will profit in multiple ways from that increased understanding.

The Nebraska Wesleyan University Traditional BSN program offers a traditional 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree combining clinical and foundational knowledge including liberal arts courses to receive a more comprehensive education.

Students will gain hands on experience with over 800 clinical hours completed upon graduation from the program. Students will further develop critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills through clinical and preceptorship experiences. Students will also train in a fully equipped skills lab. Access to a simulation lab will be included in the clinical coursework.

This program has small class sizes with experienced faculty in all specialty areas of nursing. A prep course is built into the curriculum to help students succeed on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

The combination of chemistry-based curriculum with a significant biology research component prepares our students for postgraduate studies in biomedical sciences. While biochemistry focuses on the structure and function of compounds like DNA, enzymes and proteins, molecular biology focuses on how molecules convert information into chemical reactions. Hands-on experimentation is central to the curriculum, which allows students to engage in high-level work that most of their peers do not experience until graduate school.
