Given the strong humanities emphasis within Nebraska Wesleyan’s history program, typically a degree in history is taken as a Bachelor of Arts. Students who combine history with a degree in the Social or Natural Sciences, however, usually take their degree as a Bachelor of Science.

The Bachelor of Science degree is for those who wish to emphasize their study of chemistry.

Students interested in chemical engineering can participate in the Engineering Dual-Degree Program. Chemical Engineering students complete either a B.A. or B.S. degree in Chemistry at NWU and any remaining engineering program requirements at one of our participating schools of engineering.

For students interested in studying pre-health, a program of study emphasizing a strong background in chemistry is available for students planning a future in medicine.

Students studying mathematics at Nebraska Wesleyan University have opportunities to engage themselves fully in their education by conducting research with faculty, teaching in the Math Tutoring Center, grading for courses, attending Math Club events, and working collaboratively with their peers.

The choice of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is available to political science majors. If a student has a second major, the degree choice may be determined by the other major.

The Department of Modern Languages at Nebraska Wesleyan University prepares students to engage in a diverse and changing world through the study of languages, literatures and cultures. Recognizing that the study of language is central to the experience of a liberal arts education, the Department of Modern Languages serves the entire student body through the Archway Curriculum and its Major and Minor programs. Modern Language Studies at NWU:

The Department of Modern Languages offers a broad curriculum with courses in language, culture and literature, supported by interdisciplinary collaboration with departments and programs across the university and through study abroad opportunities.

You can also craft an interdisciplinary BFA degree combining multiple departments in a single course of study, such as theatre design and art history, directing and business management, acting and psychology.

Students majoring in Health and Fitness Studies may pursue interest in such areas as personal training, strength and conditioning training, worksite wellness, health promotions, fitness centers, and graduate school. The business-sociology degree combines courses in business, accounting and economics with courses in sociology and anthropology.

The International Business major consists of three sections. A minor or major in a modern foreign language is required. International Business majors must study or work abroad for at least one semester in an approved program.

Mathematics, as required for the business administration major, is strongly recommended. This is especially important for those students who plan to pursue graduate studies in this field.

The department offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a major in Philosophy and Religion. If a student has a first major that requires a Bachelor of Science or other bachelor's degree, the department may approve the Philosophy and Religion major as a second major under the B.S. or other bachelor's degree.

Majors and minors have the option of blending courses between philosophy and religion. Graduating majors will complete a traditional thesis with opportunities for public presentation and publication, or a culminating project with real-world focus and opportunities for practicum.
