The undergraduate Law and Justice Studies program provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study of crime, the function of criminal law and the criminal justice system. The Master's of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Education (MA HGE) is the first and only of its kind globally. With equal focus on Holocaust and genocide content, and innovative and effective pedagogies, the MA HGE breaks new ground. This graduate program fills a much-needed gap in higher education. Currently, fifteen states in the U.S. have Holocaust and genocide education mandates, and federal funding has been earmarked to improve Holocaust education nation-wide. The MA HGE bridges a divide between more traditional programs in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and graduate programs in Education in order to help graduate students consider what Holocaust and genocide education can look like across diverse settings. This program is designed for those interested in Holocaust and education broadly, from classroom teachers and curriculum developers, to museum educators, and those interested in working for nonprofits and NGOs. In the MA HGE, graduate students will gain deep content knowledge and the ability to implement effective teaching strategies through customized coursework and an applied capstone project.

Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is a relevant and timely major especially with the current and impending threat of universal terrorism, the impact of climate change and natural disasters, and the enhanced need to address issues related to public safety and national security. Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is an innovative and interdisciplinary degree program that focuses on training students in areas that impact human welfare locally, nationally, and globally. The program has a distinctive emphasis on urban issues and environments and the role that ethics plays in how policies, politics, and practices shape the quality of life for human beings in our state, nation, and world.

The Health and Science Communication (HSC) program is a unique, interdisciplinary program made up of students and faculty who are curious about health and science, who facilitate public engagement with complex information, and who advocate for life-saving and sustaining change.

The Bachelor of Science degree is designed for students interested in scientific careers or pursuing graduate studies. Field experiences are an essential element of our curriculum, beginning in the first year.

Students earning a BS in Environmental Science will leave Rowan University with a broad understanding of several scientific disciplines and mathematics. Course requirements offer flexibility within the degree, not only with a number of elective credits but with choices among specialized courses.

BS students integrate the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics and other core STEM disciplines with their understanding of environmental issues. Environmental scientists are on the front line of documenting environment change and developing solutions to modern problems that impact everyone on Earth.

The Area Studies major invites students to learn about one region of the world from multiple disciplinary perspectives and to gain deep knowledge of that region, skill in a world language, and cultural competence.  All Area Studies majors select one of the following regional concentrations:  Asian Studies, European Studies, or Latin American Studies.  Their coursework focuses on the culture, politics, economics, literature, language(s), and history of their chosen region.  Students also consider their area of concentration—Asia, Europe, or Latin America—within a global frame.  The Area Studies major should appeal to students who want to pursue careers in business, education, advocacy, counseling or social work, law enforcement, government, media and the arts, translation or interpretation, and other sectors.

The Bachelor of Arts in Leadership & Social Innovation prepares students to work in existing and emerging industries in start-ups, foundations, not-for-profits, grass-roots organizations, and community organizations as well as in established markets such as business, government, and policy organizations.  Students will be prepared to understand leadership and organizations, diversity, the design and evaluation of organizational initiatives, and grant acquisition and management.  Students will also acquire the skills to lead within organizations, to work with diverse groups, to plan and evaluate organizational initiatives and to find, evaluate, secure and manage grants.
