Rowan English majors explore how meaning is made in and through language. They study a wide range of literary texts, learning to read closely, to ask sharp questions, and to write skillfully and with purpose. Rowan English majors form a unique and diverse learning community—one that celebrates intellectual curiosity, civic responsibility, and the rigors of research and critical analysis. At all levels of the curriculum, English majors engage with questions of genre, form, style, author, and audience as well as with questions of history, nation, culture, and social identity. The departmental mission is to teach and model the range of traditions and perspectives necessary for the study of literature, its history, and its contexts today.

The Rowan University Chemical Engineering Program is a student-centered, primarily undergraduate program that incorporates leading-edge educational methods and technology with engineering practice. We prepare students for careers in the global chemical process industry and related fields, and for advanced degree study. Our program provides students with a strong foundation in chemical engineering science and design, and emphasizes the development of effective communication and teaming skills, and professional responsibility in preparation for a career in a diverse global workforce. Throughout the curriculum, students are exposed to chemical engineering methods using hands-on, state-of-the-art experiments, modern computer tools, and problem synthesis and solution approaches. Rowan University's B.A. in Sports Communication and Media (Sports CaM) is an interdisciplinary program in the College of Communication and Creative Arts designed for students interested in the coverage, promotion, broadcasting, language, and cultural impact of contemporary sport. All majors complete Sports CaM's core courses and then choose a concentration in either communication studies, esports, journalism, public relations and advertising, or radio/TV/film production. The degree culminates with an internship in sports communication and media.

Our M.S. in Engineering effectively prepares professionals to respond to the changing needs of engineers today. Our students complete higher level coursework in technical topics and develop and demonstrate applied skills in research, teaching, and communication - all of which leads to an advanced engineering degree. Our program provides you with the necessary knowledge, skill set, and training to be leaders in the engineering workforce.

Novel independent research, conducted under the supervision of a faculty mentor, is an option (thesis-track) and will culminate in publication(s) in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presentations at scientific conferences, a thesis, and the potential generation of intellectual property.

Our Master of Science in Chemical Engineering provides the opportunity to work on real-world projects in state-of-the-art facilities. In our program, you participate in an applied, hands-on education and build the knowledge and training needed to effectively contribute to the field of engineering. The Chemical Engineering specialization emphasizes project management skills and industrially relevant research that prepares students for careers in high-tech fields. This program includes the following focus areas: Bioengineering & Biomedical Engineering; Polymer Science & Engineering; Separations; Reaction Engineering; Sustainability; and Engineering Pedagogy.

Our Master of Arts in Mathematics provides an opportunity to pursue advanced study in mathematics and develop the skills to help lead you to success in today's technologically-oriented society. Whether the goal involves applying mathematics to solve problems in business and industry, teaching in higher education, preparing for further graduate study in mathematics or related fields, or working in a rapidly the growing field of big data analysis as a statistician, this program enables each student to pursue a course of study that is appropriate for their interests.

To address these varying interests, we offer three concentrations: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics.

Our M.S. in Data Science prepares graduates with a degree in a STEM-related field for a career in data science. The program provides a strong background in data mining, modeling, and statistical and machine learning. In our curriculm, we build on industry needs, as well as guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

As a student, you may declare a concentration or choose from a variety of electives to increase your knowledge of computer science, statistics or visual Science.

Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is a relevant and timely major especially with the current and impending threat of universal terrorism, the impact of climate change and natural disasters, and the enhanced need to address issues related to public safety and national security. Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is an innovative and interdisciplinary degree program that focuses on training students in areas that impact human welfare locally, nationally, and globally. The program has a distinctive emphasis on urban issues and environments and the role that ethics plays in how policies, politics, and practices shape the quality of life for human beings in our state, nation, and world.
