The International Studies program at Rowan is designed to prepare students to live and develop their careers in an increasingly interdependent world. The Africana Studies program at Rowan is devoted to the study of the historical and contemporary challenges, experiences, and contributions of Africans, African Americans, and people of African descent throughout the world. One of the program's greatest strengths is its unique interdisciplinary approach to global black studies that offers students an array of courses from 12 academic departments on campus. Students can major or double major in Africana Studies, or pursue a minor.

Southern New Jersey's fastest-growing demographic of minorities is a microcosm of America's increasingly diverse populations that live in majority-minority cities across the country. As the nation and the world become more diverse, it is important for universities to offer majors like Africana Studies that will help students to not only develop race literacy, but also to learn other cultural competencies needed to excel in an increasingly multicultural workplace and globalized world. In today's society, employers are looking for individuals who can thrive in a changing and dynamic environment.

The Bachelor of Arts in Computing and Informatics is a new degree designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in information technology which requires a solid understanding of the principles of computing - but not the underpinnings of computer science theory and mathematics.

Concentrate on computer programming, infrastructure platforms, web application development, database implementations, or information security. Customize the program to suit your specific interests and abilities. We currently offer specializations in mobile devices and DevOp.

Rowan's Physics major balances general physics courses that develop analytical skills needed for any career direction with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The department also offers coursework in astronomy and astrophysics. Personal attention is a hallmark of the program: enrollment in laboratory-based physics classes is limited to 24 students per section, and all lectures and labs are taught by faculty, not teaching assistants. In our junior-level Research Methods courses, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment as they plan and execute a project under the direction of our research faculty. Physics majors can enter fields such as education, going on to teach at the secondary level, or pursue an advanced degree to become a college profesor and/or conduct research; others may enter fields such as busiess, computers, engineering, finance, law, and medicine.

Immerse yourself in art, science, medicine and digital media technology. You will combine exploration, research and investigation with strong visual communication design and technical skills to connect with audiences through the creation of educational narratives and didactic design.

We’ve designed a flexible curriculum, combining access to Rowan’s science and medicine courses and Rowan’s art’s courses in computer imaging, graphic design, information design, photography and sculpture.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychological Science is a degree designed for students who are interested in pursuing research-oriented careers that may or may not require graduate level training such as experimental psychology .

Our curriculum is designed to provide our students with breadth and depth of knowledge in psychology as well as professional skills in research both inside and outside of the classroom. Along with other foundation courses, the degree requires a year-long research course sequence (i.e. Advance Research I and II) that provides students with the opportunity to conduct a human subjects research project from beginning to the end. The BS in Psychological Science major consists of 60 credits in psychology, 4 credits in Calculus, and 4 credits in Biological Science.

Business Analytics Concentration

An MBA Concentration in Business Analytics is an ideal option for those that want a career that builds upon their problem-solving strengths and decision making skill sets through the use of data analysis, statistical models, and other quantitative methods. Explore business performance through four types of analytics: descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive and learn how to effectively improve business performance through this analysis. Data collection techniques have exploded. Learn how to take this data and transform it into actionable insights and successful and innovative business strategies. Business analytics skills are in demand internationally across all industries. Long term career goals might include positions such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, big data engineer, or data analytics consultant.

The Master's of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Education (MA HGE) is the first and only of its kind globally. With equal focus on Holocaust and genocide content, and innovative and effective pedagogies, the MA HGE breaks new ground. This graduate program fills a much-needed gap in higher education. Currently, fifteen states in the U.S. have Holocaust and genocide education mandates, and federal funding has been earmarked to improve Holocaust education nation-wide. The MA HGE bridges a divide between more traditional programs in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and graduate programs in Education in order to help graduate students consider what Holocaust and genocide education can look like across diverse settings. This program is designed for those interested in Holocaust and education broadly, from classroom teachers and curriculum developers, to museum educators, and those interested in working for nonprofits and NGOs. In the MA HGE, graduate students will gain deep content knowledge and the ability to implement effective teaching strategies through customized coursework and an applied capstone project.

The Rowan University Mechanical Engineering (ME) Program offers an innovative and student-centered program, incorporating leading-edge educational methods that blend theory with engineering practice. The program provides students with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering science and design, and emphasizes the development of effective communication, teaming skills, and professional responsibility, in preparation for a career in a diverse global workforce.

Throughout the curriculum, students are exposed to mechanical engineering methods using hands-on state-of-the-art experiments, modern computational tools, and problem synthesis and solution approaches. The Mechanical Engineering Program is committed to graduating students that have technical excellence, a commitment to professional responsibility, and lifelong learning skills.

A  full range of theatre and dance production opportunities complements coursework and allows students to develop performance and production skills by creating live theatre.  All students may participate in the department's annual faculty-directed mainstage and/or student productions. These projects provide students with practical experience as performers, directors, designers and technicians, and enhances skills learned in the classroom.

Concentration in Musical Theatre
Become a well-rounded theater performer, not just a voice in a chorus. Meet with a private vocal instructor every semester for intensive singing lessons to best prepare you for auditions.

Unlike traditional programs, you will develop skills in all aspects of performance and overlap with Dance, Acting, and Design/Tech majors. Learn about acting, script analysis, movement, dance, improvisation, literature and musical theater history.
