With a field that’s as broad as life itself, the biological sciences major gives you ample exposure to help you figure out where you belong within this area of study. Upon graduation you will be well prepared for placement in graduate school; medical, dental, optometry, pharmacy, or veterinary school; and in careers that range from public health to environmental science.

Secondary Education
This concentration allows you to pursue an undergraduate degree in biological sciences and earn a secondary teaching certificate at the same time though the LSU GeauxTeach Math & Science program.

By building analytical skills related to meaning, value, and argumentation, you will be equipped for a surprising range of opportunities in fields such as linguistics, computer science, medical ethics, or law.

In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

• Global Studies: The concentration in global studies is a very broad concentration covering any topics which fall across multiple regions of the world. Much of international relations, global climate concerns, third world development, world population and globalization fit under this concentration.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. Topics include soil science and conservation, ornamentals and grasses, urban landscape management, sustainable horticulture, and much more.

Crop Science: Study food and fiber production with an emphasis on subjects from crop pests to economics.

Graduates could design power systems in Baton Rouge, work on flight control systems in San Diego, help maintain an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, or work at a software company in Silicon Valley.
