Secondary Education
If you plan to teach high school Spanish, the concentration in secondary education will prepare you for teaching certification while you pursue your degree in Spanish.

In this major, you can study political topics ranging from healthcare reform to international diplomacy. Through this exploration, you will develop knowledge and analytical skills that can help you succeed in a career in public policy, city management, and law.

If you’re a natural-born “mathlete,” a degree in mathematics can lead to a career in many exciting areas, including actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and secondary education. You can also pursue a graduate degree or professional degree in fields such as law and business.

Computational Mathematics
In this area of concentration, your course work will focus on the mathematics behind numerical procedures and computer algorithms. It is recommended for students interested in careers grappling with tomorrow’s large-scale numerical problems.

Accounting defines transactions so they can be used to describe business activities. Learning the language allows you to communicate and understand the financial operations of any and all types of organizations. Establish a solid foundation for your career by focusing on the drivers of marketing, including the trends that cause existing and new markets to develop. You will have the chance to enroll in innovative courses such as “Marketing on the Internet” and “Sports Marketing.” Additionally, the department participates in the International Business Seminars program, allowing students to travel to Europe and learn best business practices from several firms and companies.

Digital Marketing: Students integrate their knowledge of promotions, marketing research, consumer behavior, and statistics with exposure to digital marketing content distribution platforms to equip themselves with the practical knowledge and skillsets necessary to succeed in the growing and in-demand professions of digital and social media marketing.

The Bachelor of Arts is a broad-based liberal arts degree with an emphasis in the study of music. You can use this degree to explore music alongside other areas of study including business, engineering, arts administration, digital media, and jazz.

Experimental Music and Digital Media: Expand your interest in computer music, experimental music, music technology, and digital media to the next level and journey toward opportunities in electronic music and digital media. Combining music, technology, and science, you can participate in such activities as the Louisiana Mobile App Orchestra and the Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Conservation Biology: Help conserve rare, uncommon, threatened, or endangered species and learn about habitat manipulations and genetic approaches to enhancing these species.

Agricultural & Extension Education
This broad-based curriculum encompasses all areas of agriculture and offers you unique opportunities for professional and leadership development, hands-on learning across the state, and participation in faculty-led research. Available concentrations will prepare you for teaching in secondary schools or for careers in extension, business, government, or industry.

Teaching in Formal Education
Develop your agricultural knowledge and skills through teaching; supervise agriculture experiences, teach students in both formal and informal settings, and advise FFA and other agriculture organization chapters.
