Political science is the study of the collective decisions that shape our common fate. Political scientists study topics including the outcome of elections, the acquisition and exercise of power, the causes of war, the design and function of electoral systems; the history of political thought; the adoption and implementation of public policies; the comparative efficacy of political systems around the world; the operation of legal systems, and many more.

You’ll develop the skills needed to foster academic growth and socio-emotional well-being in children and adolescents. You can expect focused and practical assignments, engaging and intensive discussions and small group projects, and multiple opportunities to complete field experiences that allow you to develop your skills and strategies in PreK-12 schools and classrooms. You’ll develop greater self-awareness, as well as the ability to collaborate with others to surmount obstacles.

Students who earn their Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Science are provided the health education needed to become future leaders in the sport, exercise and nutrition industry.

The BSBA in Real Estate provides students with 18 semester hours of core content and three semester hours of electives tailored to deliver comprehensive knowledge of the real estate industry and urban land economics.

Students will use industry-standard computer programs and databases to solve problems related to the built environment. Students will incorporate the concepts of social costs and benefits in analyzing the ongoing process of urban gentrification, and not just the individual financial benefits associated with change in the urban landscape. This program has been designed to offer students the opportunity to major in both traditional and emerging financial fields. Course offerings give students a broad exposure to contemporary issues in the financial world. Courses in finance have been designed to meet the following objectives:

• Teach the concepts and skills necessary to provide funds for a business and to control, plan and evaluate the flow of funds through the enterprise
• Provide advanced education in business finance to those seeking employment in corporate finance, banking, securities exchanges and personal financial planning

Actuarial science applies probability theory and risk management to the areas of life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, pension plans, and other employee benefit plans. Students who seek a graduate degree in actuarial science may have earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics, finance, economics, computer science, or other related fields.

The MA in Elementary Education (ELED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from 1st through 6th grades. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It provides opportunities to earn a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.
