Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida is located in the heart of the theme park capital of the world – Orlando, Florida.  Orlando is home to eight major theme parks and four themed water parks.  In addition, there are dozens of smaller attractions that feature a variety of unique themes.  Rosen College has capitalized on this location to develop the world’s only program dedicated to theme park and attraction management.  As part of our Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management, students are able to take a series of courses in a specialized track of study for those interested in careers in the theme park and attractions industry.

The Bachelor of Science in Economics is designed for students who wish to receive specialized training in Economics within a broad liberal arts education. Flexibility to select from a variety of courses allows students to customize their education to their personal interests and career goals. This degree also provides a strong foundation for future graduate studies in business, economics, law and public administration. he Legal Studies program provides students with a broad understanding of basic principles of the law and the role and function of the legal system. In addition to preparing students for law-related careers, the program provides a solid foundation for law school. While no specific major is required for admission to law school, a degree in Legal Studies presents students with an unparalleled opportunity for law school preparation. All Legal Studies faculty are graduates of ABA-approved law schools, and practice/have practiced law.

Legal Studies students are encouraged to work closely with their program advisor in planning degree completion and career goals. Satisfactory completion of program requirements leads to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Legal Studies. The B.A. requires two semesters of college-level foreign language; the B.S. requires two years of high school foreign language.

The Bachelor of Arts in Art – History offers undergraduate students specific knowledge about art and architecture from prehistory to the present. The curriculum provides a foundation for the understanding of art, in all of its various forms, and encourages the development of visual literacy. Contextual, as well as stylistic approaches, provide exposure to different methodologies involved in the study of visual material. Emergency management classes are offered face-to-face at UCF Downtown, mixed-mode and online. This offers you the flexibility and convenience you need to balance school, work and life.
