Environmental engineers work at the interface of the natural and built environment to protect society from adverse environmental factors and the environment from natural and human activities. UCF’s program focuses on air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, environmental health, and remediation. Environmental engineers are responsible for improving the quality of life and safety of society, and plan, design, permit, and maintain projects to comply with regulations and improvement of water, soil, and air quality. UCF’s students are active in the Society of Environmental Engineers and other student organizations.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Acting is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized performance career in Acting. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of acting. Class work is augmented with practical production experiences. Drawing upon the teachings of Stanislavski-based methodologies, as well as other successful practical acting techniques, the professional acting program offers an organic approach to performance training. The program begins with a focus on the fundamentals of acting: development of imagination, selfawareness, improvisation, voice production/diction and movement. During the first two years, the student also receives training in script analysis, singing and dance. The training then moves to an emphasis on characterization, character development and studio training/scene study. This practical study, drawn from the total range of dramatic literature, provides the student with performance experiences ranging from the classical to the contemporary, including verse and musical theatre. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. While most students choose to enter the work force following graduation, the BFA is an excellent degree for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in theatre. Work within the BFA program requires energy and dedication; therefore, other part-time study or outside employment is very challenging. BFA standards are high, both for admission and for continuation in the program.

Event planning is a highly complex and dynamic field that comes with many challenges and opportunities. The BS in Event Management program provides you with the theoretical and practical tools needed to lead the future of the event industry. Our program provides you with a toolbox of resources, best practices and other skills needed to succeed.

Your courses will cover a broad set of skills that prepare you to manage small to large-scale events — from inception to implementation. Learn from world-renowned educators who bring years of experience to the classroom. Explore topics such as event management, including risk management, marketing, finance and logistics while utilizing the newest technologies and emerging industry trends. Plus, you’ll gain greater insight into a wide range of events like fairs, festivals, entertainment and sporting events, meetings and tradeshows. As you progress through your studies, you’ll be ready to break into this fast-paced and rewarding industry from day one.

Students completing the Forensic Science - Biochemistry Track B.S. degree will also meet the requirements for ACS certification. This track is designed to align students with specific courses necessary for the examination of DNA and other biochemical evidence. Students should be advised that background checks similar to those required for law enforcement officers are likely to be a condition of employment (Reference: NIJ Report NCJ 203099).

The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Design and Technology is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized career in professional theatre. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of design and technology. Students can expect to work along side faculty as design or technical assistants in their first two years and will be given the opportunity for technical leadership opportunities including, prop master, master electrician, first hand, draper, scenic artist, master carpenter, technical director, etc. Those who qualify and wish to pursue design areas can be offered design positions within the production season. The curriculum requires students to become proficient in design and technology related to scenery, costumes, lighting and sound through specified coursework. Students then select one or two areas of specialization where their production assignments will focus in their junior and senior years, thus giving each student practical experience as they build their professional portfolios. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. While most students choose to enter the workforce following graduation, the BFA is an excellent degree for students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in theatre. Production assignments are regulated to serve the artistic growth of students thus coordinating production experience with class room exploration.

The Pre- Health Professional Biology Track is designed for students seeking entrance into professional health programs including medicine (MD or DO), veterinary medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.  Students in this track will also be well prepared if they decide to apply to graduate school.  In addition to core Biology courses in Genetics and Molecular & Cellular Biology, this track emphasizes courses in development, physiology, and anatomy.  Moreover, electives like Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Evolution & Medicine as well as lab courses in Anatomy, Genetics and Genomics will give students the background needed to excel in professional school entrance exams (e.g. the MCAT) as well as courses offered in those professional schools.

The Art, BA program at UCF inspires creativity while also teaching you the foundational elements of art, history and design. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with local and national organizations — through internships and networking events — that provide first-hand experience with projects such as amusement park entertainment, designs for international clients and films.

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida is located in the heart of the theme park capital of the world – Orlando, Florida.  Orlando is home to eight major theme parks and four themed water parks.  In addition, there are dozens of smaller attractions that feature a variety of unique themes.  Rosen College has capitalized on this location to develop the world’s only program dedicated to theme park and attraction management.  As part of our Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management, students are able to take a series of courses in a specialized track of study for those interested in careers in the theme park and attractions industry.

The BS in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) prepares you to care for patients by ensuring that medical data is high quality and kept secure. The field provides a link between clinicians, administrators, technology designers, operations, and information technology professionals. You’ll present health information in a meaningful manner and are experts in managing, interpreting, analyzing, auditing, coding and converting health data into statistical information that everyone can use. The work you do will help improve patient outcomes.

Throughout your courses, learn about medicine, management, finance, information technology and law. In addition to medical coding skills, gain an understanding of how to use data analytics to interpret a variety of healthcare scenarios that may be encountered in the workplace. You’ll also have opportunities to interact with industry professionals through workshops and conferences. Plus, get hands-on experience through internships, a virtual hospital tour and extensive use of practice management software.
