Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree program. The degree program is individually designed by each student along with a committee of at least four faculty members from the student's areas of interest.

Bachelor of Arts students tend to focus within the humanities, social sciences and fine arts. Fields of study might include Southern studies, Middle Eastern studies, performance arts management, environmental studies or linguistics.

Businesses and organizations need employees who can write and speak clearly, manage and solve problems and function creatively and effectively in the real world. Your liberal studies degree will prepare you for success in these critical areas through a multidisciplinary program you will design with an experienced advisor.

The management department offers an undergraduate concentration in human resources as well as a broad range of courses in areas ranging from strategic management to business communications. Students are exposed to a unique blend of classroom and applied experiential learning opportunities to prepare them for work in the modern economy. We also offer a wide range of both required and elective courses in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, consulting and organizational development, human resources, talent analytics and strategic management.

U.S. News & World Report ranks the University of South Carolina's Chemical Engineering Program as one of the best in the country. The program also ranks 14th nationally in federally-funded chemical research and development, according to the National Science Foundation.

The M.S. degree is an academic research degree, which may be tailored to individual interests and job market needs. This degree requires a minimum of 36 graduate hours and combines real-world problem solving and research skills with other technical, health and related skills to prepare effective environmental health researchers for the public and private sectors. M.S. program graduates are often employed within federal, state and local public health and environmental protection agencies, federal and state research laboratories, contract research laboratories, industry, consulting firms and universities. Visual communicators tell stories. With a major in visual communications, you can learn to tell stories through photography, video, illustration, print publications or electronic design. Our core courses teach you the basics, and as you discover your talents, you choose the electives and out-of-classroom experiences that match your interests.

As a visual communications major, you will use the latest technology in a series of courses that emphasize multimedia production and writing. Later, you can apply your knowledge in an internship with an ad agency, public relations firm, newspaper or magazine, hone your skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in your visual communications specialty. As a senior, you will complete a capstone experience in which you will prepare a multimedia portfolio that will allow you to shine in a competitive job market.

Finance involves the study of business finance, investments and financial institutions. Students can specialize in corporate finance, investments or financial services.

The Finance Department in the Darla Moore School of Business is composed of outstanding faculty members and researchers whose interests include areas such as bank management, corporate restructuring, investment management, risk management, employee benefits and real estate finance. You will benefit from cutting-edge business knowledge and develop a strong foundation in liberal arts and sciences. • Demonstrate the ability to apply tools and technologies appropriate for the production, editing and presentation of visual, aural, textual or other media content.  
• Apply basic numerical and statistical concepts and methods appropriate for the communications professions. 

The Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies is designed for students who want to major in music while receiving a broad, liberal arts education. No audition is required for this major, making it the perfect choice for students who desire a career in music but may lack traditional training. A large part of the degree is based on experiential learning, with students engaging with professionals via guest lectures, interactive job site visits and shadowing, and internships.

Students must satisfy all general education requirements as specified in the chosen degree. These requirements are designed to give students broad experience in liberal arts and sciences and opportunities to develop intellectual skills in analysis and evaluation, as well as competence in written and oral communication. Course work also includes a basic education in music, along with courses in recording sciences, live event promotions and production, marketing and entrepreneurship. Studies culminate in a two-semester capstone project that draws on the student's experiences and allows them to focus on the area of the music industry that they are most strongly drawn to. 

The Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice program is a professional degree designed to provide criminal justice professionals with coursework in criminal justice system operation, criminology, research methods, and statistics. The degree program provides students with advanced instruction that prepares them to use evidence-based practices in the criminal justice system. Beyond career advancement for practitioners, the masters degree also provides rigorous social science training that prepares students for continued doctoral study.
