Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree program. The degree program is individually designed by each student along with a committee of at least four faculty members from the student's areas of interest.

Bachelor of Arts students tend to focus within the humanities, social sciences and fine arts. Fields of study might include Southern studies, Middle Eastern studies, performance arts management, environmental studies or linguistics.

It takes a lot of expertise to analyze, plan, design and build our modern world. With a master’s degree in civil engineering, you’ll be prepared to work with a range of clients and collaborators, from government agencies to private firms.

As a marine science major, you will obtain interdisciplinary knowledge in marine science as well as core knowledge in an area of emphasis chosen from among biological oceanography, chemical oceanography, physical oceanography, geological oceanography or coastal resource management and marine policy.

The M.S. degree is an academic research degree, which may be tailored to individual interests and job market needs. This degree requires a minimum of 36 graduate hours and combines real-world problem solving and research skills with other technical, health and related skills to prepare effective environmental health researchers for the public and private sectors. M.S. program graduates are often employed within federal, state and local public health and environmental protection agencies, federal and state research laboratories, contract research laboratories, industry, consulting firms and universities. The College of Engineering and Computing offers the South Carolina's only aerospace engineering program, including a Master of Engineering (M.E.) and Masters of Science (M.S.) in Aerospace Engineering.

Graduate study in aerospace engineering affords the opportunity to enhance critical thinking and mathematical prowess, skills that are transferable to career advancement in research, design and application work environments. Plus, those with graduate degrees in aerospace engineering generally have a higher income than those with just an undergraduate engineering degree.

Aerospace engineering graduate degrees include the Master of Engineering (M.E.), which is perceived to be more practically oriented, and the Master of Science (M.S.), which is considered more scholarly or fundamental and includes a thesis.

Programs of study for both the M.S. and M.E. in Aerospace Engineering include coursework in five core areas:

• Aeroelasticity
• Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics
• Aerospace Structures
• Composite Materials
• Finite Element Analysis

Additional electives allow students to concentrate their studies in the mechanics, materials, and flight aspects of aerospace engineering.

Our Chemical Engineering graduate program is ranked in the top 30 nationally by the National Research Council and ranked 14th nationally in federally funded chemical research and development by the National Science Foundation.

Incentives for our Ph.D. candidates are the wide selection of research topics, full tuition waiver and high 12-month stipends. Full-time Ph.D. student stipends currently are in excess of $28,000 per year with tuition and partial health insurance support paid by the university. NSF Fellows and other students with similar fellowships can receive stipends totaling over $42,000 per year.
