With the option of pursuing a B.A. in geology, geochemistry, or geophysics, students at SUNY Geneseo are exposed to challenging and rewarding curriculum taught by accomplished faculty with a broad range of expertise. Alums of the SUNY Geneseo Department of Geological Sciences have gone on to pursue graduate degrees at Stanford, Scripps, Texas A&M, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Arizona, and other universities, to become recognized leaders in their field. The Biophysics program began in the early 1990's to prepare students for graduate programs at the interface of biology and physics. The program requirements expose students to basic techniques in biology, physics, and mathematics. Students completing this program typically go on to graduate programs in biology, physics, and medical.

school.Biophysics is a broadly and variably defined topic. All definitions are subject to definer bias. Perhaps the best way for us to deal with this field is to say that it's anything that includes overlap between the fields of biology and physics. The scale for these interactions range from the very small (e.g., biochemical dynamics) to the large (e.g., do elephants actually run?). Combining tradition and innovation, the major in English gives students an understanding of imaginative and cultural processes and products that is broad, deep, and contextually rich. Courses in English help students develop skills and knowledge necessary for an examined life, a successful career, and responsible membership in a global society.

This past fall, he was selected as a Fellow with the US Government's Presidential Management Fellowship through the Executive Office of the President's Office of Personnel Management. Starting in July, Peter will begin his Federal Appointment at the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), as a Health Policy and Legislative Analyst, working with the US Congress and other Federal Agencies on Federal Health Policy Implementation and Evaluation. At Geneseo, Peter was actively involved in the many various activities throughout both the Anthropology and Biology Departments including Lambda Alpha Honor Society, was a member of the SUNY Geneseo Chamber Singers and Festival Choir, and served as a Teaching Assistant for both Dr. Barb Welker and Dr. Kristi Krumrine. Peter has also continued to serve as a Research Assistant to Kristi since the beginning of her fieldwork in Coba, Mexico in 2015. Peter is so proud to be a Geneseo Grad, most importantly from the Anthro Department, and credits both Kristi and the late Dr. Rosemarie Chierici for their incredible mentorship and for encouraging him to embark on the path he is on today. This is Anthropology!

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Black Studies is designed for students who want to take an interdisciplinary approach to their education. By working closely with faculty advisors, students in this major design an individualized program of courses, and internship experiences.

The minor in Africana Studies is designed to provide interdisciplinary approaches to the experiences of peoples of African descent in Africa, in the Americas, and throughout the African diaspora. The minor will enable Geneseo students not only to broaden their perception of cultural diversity but to gain a deeper understanding of cultures. Students will draw knowledge from the humanities, the social sciences, the arts, and other fields of learning that will prepare them to begin to face some of the challenges of "living in an increasingly global and diverse world

The Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to promote creative stimulation in students dedicated to either discipline.  Students will be trained in their respective fields, learning the fundamental skill sets necessary to perform and develop their own creative energies. The Department also hosts a number of student organizations dedicated to the fulfillment of these goals.

Some recent graduates are employed in corporate communication, the media industries, public relations, sales, marketing and financial services. Others have chosen to further their education in the fields of healthcare communication, counseling, conflict resolution, law and business administration.

The basis for their success is a comprehensive liberal arts communication program that combines conceptual and critical understanding with hands on application of skills. All majors take coursework in public speaking, interpersonal communication and mass communication. They also select a track of study in Personal and Professional Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, or Intercultural and Critical Studies.
