The MS in Accounting program is designed as a full-time/academic year program that builds on the body of knowledge developed in the undergraduate accounting major. Earning an MS in Accounting provides the following benefits:

• Enhanced preparation: Fifth-year graduates will arrive in the workplace with a superior level of skills and knowledge. This frequently translates to more rapid advancement and enhanced career prospects.
• Career planning flexibility: Professional mobility requires a CPA license or the ability to become licensed. Many states which already have 150-hr. requirements will not provide reciprocity for out-of-state candidates who possess only 120 hours. Lack of 150 hours can adversely affect promotions contingent on a transfer, plans to move out of state, or advancement prospects in a market which includes some 150-hr. jurisdictions (e.g. metro NYC).
• Shortened experience requirement: Masters graduates need only one year of work in order to meet the experience requirement for CPA licensure.
• Performance on the CPA exam: There is a growing body of evidence which shows significantly enhanced pass rates for fifth-year students.
• Mandatory Professional Licensure Disclosure

Some recent graduates are employed in corporate communication, the media industries, public relations, sales, marketing and financial services. Others have chosen to further their education in the fields of healthcare communication, counseling, conflict resolution, law and business administration.

The basis for their success is a comprehensive liberal arts communication program that combines conceptual and critical understanding with hands on application of skills. All majors take coursework in public speaking, interpersonal communication and mass communication. They also select a track of study in Personal and Professional Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, or Intercultural and Critical Studies.

With the option of pursuing a B.A. in geology, geochemistry, or geophysics, students at SUNY Geneseo are exposed to challenging and rewarding curriculum taught by accomplished faculty with a broad range of expertise. Alums of the SUNY Geneseo Department of Geological Sciences have gone on to pursue graduate degrees at Stanford, Scripps, Texas A&M, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Arizona, and other universities, to become recognized leaders in their field. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Black Studies is designed for students who want to take an interdisciplinary approach to their education. By working closely with faculty advisors, students in this major design an individualized program of courses, and internship experiences.

The minor in Africana Studies is designed to provide interdisciplinary approaches to the experiences of peoples of African descent in Africa, in the Americas, and throughout the African diaspora. The minor will enable Geneseo students not only to broaden their perception of cultural diversity but to gain a deeper understanding of cultures. Students will draw knowledge from the humanities, the social sciences, the arts, and other fields of learning that will prepare them to begin to face some of the challenges of "living in an increasingly global and diverse world

Neuroscience may well be the most complex and intriguing research field of our generation. The field of neuroscience is highly integrative, incorporating the rigors of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics, with the less tangible complex behavioral research of psychology. Other research that contributes to neuroscience can include findings from sociology, anthropology, and computer sciences. In turn, neuroscience has made valuable contributions to each of these fields, as well as to a wide range of health professions.

While the idea of being educated in a field of study that boasts such a broad information base may seem appealing, to be successful students must be capable of grasping this wide range of information.  Perhaps more importantly, students must be able to incorporate basic information from these contributing fields into a larger framework of understanding the relationship between the brain and behavior.

The Economics major combines the breadth, analytical development, and flexibility of a liberal arts degree with the theoretical, quantitative, and empirical foundation of economics. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking as well as analytical and communication skills. Geneseo economics graduates enter a wide array of positions in both the public and private sectors, or alternatively, gain admission to graduate programs in a variety of fields. Students frequently combine the economics major with internships, study abroad, independent research, and related study in fields such as mathematics or other social sciences.

The Biophysics program began in the early 1990's to prepare students for graduate programs at the interface of biology and physics. The program requirements expose students to basic techniques in biology, physics, and mathematics. Students completing this program typically go on to graduate programs in biology, physics, and medical.

school.Biophysics is a broadly and variably defined topic. All definitions are subject to definer bias. Perhaps the best way for us to deal with this field is to say that it's anything that includes overlap between the fields of biology and physics. The scale for these interactions range from the very small (e.g., biochemical dynamics) to the large (e.g., do elephants actually run?). The fundamental aim of the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Mathematics Degree is to provide students with a broad foundation in mathematics and the mathematical reasoning needed to pursue an interest in a specific field of intellectually activity outside of mathematics. The BS in Applied Mathematics gives students the tools to combine mathematics with another quantitatively rich subject area that is directly concerned with applications, such as the sciences, economics, or engineering. The BS in Applied Mathematics is recommended for those students who intend to pursue a career in a field that requires advanced mathematical training, often beyond an undergraduate degree. Such students are likely to continue their mathematical studies in a Phd or Master's program. The degree requires from 51 to 52 credit hours of course work.
