Exercise physiology is an applied science studying the body’s metabolic responses to acute and chronic physical activity. The program offers students a professional field experience and general division electives in the areas of strength and conditioning, nutrition, pre-PT, pre-Medical, business, and clinicals. Exercise Physiology prepares students for a number of career opportunities related to the wellness consciousness of the general population. Available courses include:

• Research Methods and Design in Exercise Science
• Exercise and Sports Nutrition
• Sports Psychology
• Sociology of Sport
• Biomechanics

Students must complete one semester of a supervised internship. Students are assigned to a variety of positions including sports practices, games and surgeries. Positions also include general medical rotation and an off-campus rotation at a high school or sports medicine clinic. These assignments give the students an opportunity apply learned techniques in the field.

The International Year program is designed especially for international students. It is the first year of study at Baylor University, where students study a combination of English language courses and credit-bearing academic courses. So they can earn credits towards their degree from the beginning.

Environmental Health Science
Environmental Health Science studies the relationship between the environment and human health. This includes preventing illness by identifying and assessing hazardous agents, environmental sources and limiting exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in air, water, soil, food and other environments that may impact human health. Environmental health professionals work to ensure safe water, food, air quality and workplace conditions, mitigate the impact of disasters and investigate and help control disease outbreaks. Apparel Merchandising
The Apparel Merchandising program focuses on developing professional skills, such as communication, analytical thinking, teamwork and ethical behavior. The music major is for serious musicians who are resolute about pursuing new frontiers and not afraid to challenge musical conventions. The major is in the liberal arts tradition.  It is a good fit for students who want a music degree, but also want to take extra courses outside their major course of study. Students develop their skills through theory and practice.  Areas of study include:

This degree allows students to develop the extraordinary skills necessary to fulfill their professional pursuits. In this degree, students may pursue studies that emphasize either performance or academic subjects in music.

Economics
The Economics major is offered in three different degree programs, as a Bachelor of Business Administration (designated as a pre-major), a Bachelor of Arts (BA), or a Bachelor of Science (BS). Each degree program is a slightly different variation of the core curriculum based on the degree requirement differences between the College of Arts and Sciences and the Business School. Choosing an Economics major in the Business School (BBA) provides the opportunity to take classes targeted toward four different career positions: consultant, public agency analyst, international economist or corporate business economist. Other possibilities for students graduating with an Economics degree include taking a position as a product risk analyst or risk and control advisor. A Bachelor of Arts in Economics is ideal for students wishing to attend graduate or law school while the Bachelor of Science in Economics is ideal for those wishing to work in the medical or scientific field.

The Elementary Education program is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference through teaching young children and want to become change agents in education. The program prepares highly qualified teachers for work in diverse school settings in Early Childhood through Grade Six. Graduates of the Elementary program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) and prepare for the Elementary Generalist certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language or Gifted and Talented Education or Special Education.

The School of Education offers a unique experience for Teacher Education majors. Unlike other programs, Baylor's School of Education offers seven semesters of hands-on experience in the classroom. The program builds upon the classroom knowledge and the students are given increasing responsibility each semester. By the students' senior year, they are teaching full time during the fall and spring semesters. Several schools in Waco partner with the Baylor School of Education to provide field experience for Teacher Education majors.

The Instrumental Music major in the Bachelor of Music Education degree program is for students interested in teaching instrumental music in public schools. This degree leads to Texas teacher certification. Students are able to choose a string or wind/percussion concentration.  Areas of study include:

• Marching Band/Jazz Pedagogy
• String Methods

All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition.  Music faculty review auditions for acceptance into each music degree program.

Student teaching is a component of the Bachelor of Music Education degree.  Graduates have found teaching careers in public and private schools in Texas and throughout the country.

Communication Sciences and Disorders is a major that trains students in the processes of communication and speaking. This includes education in identifying and treating various disorders of communication and speech. In this field, professionals seek to diagnose and treat a variety of disorders, improving communication while also improving quality of life. Baylor's major in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) emphasizes speech-language pathology and offers comprehensive education in the fundamental principles of the field. The Finance major is the study of the decision-making process involved in managing and acquiring assets to create a profit. It is a pre-major.  The major offers two focuses, Corporate Finance and Investments. Corporate Finance is the study of research and acquisition of assets for companies. The study of Investments includes the valuing of financial securities and corporate and personal portfolio management. Available courses include:

General Family and Consumer Sciences
The General Family & Consumer Sciences (GFCS) program at Baylor University focuses on issues that affect individuals, families and communities.
