The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

In the Public Relations and Advertising program, you will develop an understanding of public relations and advertising theories and practices. You’ll learn to consider processes, products and effects from multiple perspectives, as well as develop critical thinking skills and your ability to speak and write effectively.

When you pursue a public relations and advertising degree, you may choose to take courses that concentrate on either public relations or advertising. Public relations focuses on maintaining and promoting the image of a company. Advertising focuses on persuading an audience to purchase a product. If you are interested in both fields, you have the option to take courses from both subject areas.

The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.

Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics, sometimes known as Motion Design, involves putting graphic forms, text, and photographic elements into motion using the principles of animation. These are almost always paired with sound and music for a specific purpose, such as in advertisements, educational and industrial videos, films and television titles, visual effects, and video games. The master's in Health Informatics provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to implement and support information technology solutions for health sector organizations. Graduates will obtain technical knowledge and management skills for the design and support of IT systems and will develop a deep understanding of health IT processes to support health care delivery and management. Graduates will also gain knowledge in the areas of health information management including health information processing and exchange, health care analytics, enterprise management and information storage and security management.

In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology programs, you’ll learn psychological theories and research methodologies, as well as gain an understanding of both scientific and applied psychology. As you work towards your bachelors’ degree in Psychology, you’ll design and conduct psychological research studies and learn how to read and analyze scientific data.

Your bachelors’ degree in Psychology coursework focuses on theories, experimental and statistical work, and laboratory and fieldwork, allowing you to gain hands-on research experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work with faculty members on research projects, as well as develop and conduct your own research projects through our independent study program.

Psychology (BS) program

You’ll choose from one of three concentrations: a General concentration, a Cognitive Neuroscience concentration, and a Healthcare concentration. These concentrations require you to take advanced courses through the Biology, Chemistry, and/or Mathematics departments. Students in the Cognitive Neuroscience program may declare a minor in Biology. Bachelor's degree in Psychology students may meet pre-health requirements while earning their degree. To ensure success, students in the Healthcare concentration are part of DePaul’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med Advising program.

DePaul offers combined degree programs such as a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Psychology and Secondary Education Social Sciences, allowing you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

Whether you’re a career changer or you already work in the industry and want to deepen your skills, the MS in Real Estate gives you a strong foundation for real estate industry leadership by immersing you in real-world projects with real Chicago companies.

Our MS in Speech-Language Pathology program will prepare you to become a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who treats all aspects of communicative and swallowing disorders across the life span (children through adults), including the following:

• Fluency
• Receptive and expressive language
• cognitive aspects of communication (attention, memory, sequencing, problem solving, executive functioning)
• Voice and resonance ( including respiration and phonation)
• Speech sound production
• Augmentative and alternative communication
• Hearing (including the impact on speech and language)
• Swallowing
• Social aspects of communication

You’ll take classes that will focus on:

• basic science courses
• specific communication and swallowing disorders
• research methods
• clinical coursework, which includes 400 hours of supervised clinical experience

Here, you’ll gain critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills you need to become an independent clinical practitioner. You’ll be trained to work in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, clinics and private practice.
