DePaul's graduate Computer Science program is the premier training ground for computing professionals in the Chicago area. Unlike a certificate program, our master's courses focus on fundamental concepts that remain constant, even as technology changes rapidly. Unlike more research focused institutions, however, our courses emphasize the programmatic application of these fundamental concepts. Students interested in research will find an abundance of advanced topics—medical imaging, data mining, algorithmic analysis, and scientific computing, to name a few.

In the Management Information Systems (MIS) program, you’ll learn both the business and technological foundations of information systems management. DePaul’s undergraduate MIS degree program will prepare you to pursue a variety of careers requiring both business and technological skills.

As you earn your MIS degree, you will

• Acquire a broad understanding of information technologies and the information systems life cycle as they apply to business processes
• Gain the ability to identify organizational data
• design and manipulate databases
• Integrate technical knowledge with an understanding of business operations

Build upon the laws of nature with DePaul’s MS in Physics, designed for students pursuing doctoral studies as well as practicing scientists and engineers. You’ll study classical and quantum mechanics and complete elective courses such as cosmology and laser physics. Your degree will help you further your knowledge and career in science.

Deepen your understanding of classic theorems and structures, on your own schedule. DePaul’s master’s in Pure Mathematics is one of the few evening programs of its type offered in the Chicago area. Focus your research in areas such as

• Algebra (Representation theory, Lie theory, Hopf algebras and quantum groups)
• Analysis (Harmonic, Fourier and functional analysis; Operator algebras; Spectral geometry)
• Combinatorics
• Dynamical systems

In DePaul’s Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program, you’ll learn about engineering systems that integrate physical processes, computation and control. You’ll gain an understanding of how cyber-physical systems are used to manage electric grids and other infrastructures, home utilities and appliances, robots, autonomous vehicles, environmental sensor networks, traffic control, smart toys and Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

As you work toward your cyber engineering degree, you’ll learn how to:

• Analyze a simple physical process and develop a mathematical model that describes it
• Develop a feedback control system that controls a simple physical process
• Solve a computational problem by selecting appropriate data structures and algorithms
• Select the hardware (sensors, actuators, controllers, etc.) for a Cyber-Physical System
• Develop the embedded system software that manages Cyber-Physical System hardware
• Assess and improve the reliability and security of a simple Cyber-Physical System
• Integrate feedback control, algorithms, and hardware to implement a Cyber-Physical System

The Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program takes on a multi-disciplinary approach – you’ll gain a broad and deep foundation in computer science and software development.

DePaul’s master’s in Public Policy (MPP) gives you the skills, experience and analytical tools to help shape governmental policies that influence our local, regional and national agendas. You’ll also learn how to advance policies that are beneficial to urban communities and to advocate for those who are marginalized or at risk.

Using an applied, hands-on approach, you’ll focus on

• Policy design, implementation and analysis
• Law and public policy
• Advocacy and lobbying
• Economic foundations in public service

In the master’s in Marketing program, you’ll deep-dive into hands-on marketing scenarios under the mentorship of faculty who are experts in the professional world. It prepares you for a successful career by giving you solid foundations in

• Marketing strategy
• Consumer trends and data analysis
• Effective and ethical decision making
• Business communications

The MBA concentration in Marketing Strategy and Planning trains future upper-level managers to master the art of business development and marketing. This concentration puts you on a career track toward positions like chief marketing officer, creative director, senior brand manager and senior product manager.

In the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies major, you will critically examine the origins and root causes of violence and conflict, and learn strategies for resolving interpersonal, communal and international conflicts peacefully. You will master the theoretical and intellectual frameworks related to peace building, human rights advocacy and justice development by learning to interpret real life situations and applying strategies for advocacy, consensus-building, partnership development and other intervention tools.

You will complete an internship with an organization related to peace, social justice or conflict resolution.

Take advantage of DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in order to gain an international perspective on the causes of violence and conflict, as well as strategies for negotiation and resolution.

Our Management degree program will provide you with an overview of business operations, including techniques to strategically align the human, technology and financial assets of a firm. As a business management major, you’ll become prepared for a career in a variety of service-delivery, manufacturing, consulting, non-profit and digital business environments.

Choose from one of six concentrations — general management, entrepreneurship, human resources, leadership and change management, operations management, or sports management. The courses you take will be tailored to the concentration you choose.

Business management majors here will benefit from programs and networking events at DePaul’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center and Center for Innovation, as well as DePaul’s presence in Chicago’s 1871 business incubator.
