As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Urban Diplomacy
The Urban Diplomacy concentration examines the practice of diplomacy within the boundaries of a single city. Students learn how to apply the tools and understanding of diplomatic practices like mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy, and leadership within the context of local government, community organizing, and globally-connected business.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

DePaul’s history program is designed to help you engage in developing a critical understanding of the past, as well as its impact on the present and the future.

The bachelor’s degree in history curriculum combines a breadth of chronological and geographical areas. Courses examine history in the Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe. Through the program, you’ll learn how to conduct research and communicate effectively (individually and in teams), develop writing skills and analyze sources.

Chicago is a historically rich city, providing you immense opportunity to take your learning outside the classroom. As you earn your bachelor’s degree in History, you’ll be encouraged to do an internship and work with faculty on research initiatives.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

Earn your master’s in International Studies and develop a complex, informal perspective on global inequality. This academically rigorous, thesis-optional program, grounded in critical theory, focuses on themes of power and global systems. We’re dedicated to building a community of scholars and researchers who demonstrate a commitment to questioning power and politics in a way that bridges theory and practice.

In DePaul’s Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program, you’ll learn about engineering systems that integrate physical processes, computation and control. You’ll gain an understanding of how cyber-physical systems are used to manage electric grids and other infrastructures, home utilities and appliances, robots, autonomous vehicles, environmental sensor networks, traffic control, smart toys and Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

As you work toward your cyber engineering degree, you’ll learn how to:

• Analyze a simple physical process and develop a mathematical model that describes it
• Develop a feedback control system that controls a simple physical process
• Solve a computational problem by selecting appropriate data structures and algorithms
• Select the hardware (sensors, actuators, controllers, etc.) for a Cyber-Physical System
• Develop the embedded system software that manages Cyber-Physical System hardware
• Assess and improve the reliability and security of a simple Cyber-Physical System
• Integrate feedback control, algorithms, and hardware to implement a Cyber-Physical System

The Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program takes on a multi-disciplinary approach – you’ll gain a broad and deep foundation in computer science and software development.

Gain insight into the global business environment and an international perspective on economic topics, including trade theory, international financial policy and emerging markets. With DePaul’s MBA concentration in International Business, you’ll be prepared to navigate effectively as a manager in a complex and ever-changing global business environment through a multidisciplinary curriculum.

Psychological Science MA program is a highly competitive program that trains students in the theories and methodologies that define the core scientific pillars of psychology: social, developmental, cognitive and neuroscience.

With an emphasis on critical and integrative thinking, our students will understand the psychological foundations of human thought, emotions, motivation and behavior while conducting innovative research on diverse topics within psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop research and statistical skills both inside the laboratory and out in the world developing scientific solutions to real-world problems. Our program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a researcher, educator, and/or consultant in a variety of fields.

In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art, Media, and Design programs, you will expand your artistic potential through a broad-based education in studio art, photography and media art, or graphic art.

Learn the history of and experience the creative possibilities of visual culture through a project-based curriculum in art-making. The programs emphasize fundamental artistic concepts through problem solving and experimentation in studio courses.

You’ll work closely with faculty who are practicing artists in dedicated art studios on campus.

As you work on your art and design degree, you’ll spend time in photography dark rooms, wood and metal workshops, and in studios in the following art areas: sculpture, printmaking, video, photography, digital photography, graphic art, painting and drawing.
