Gain insight into the global business environment and an international perspective on economic topics, including trade theory, international financial policy and emerging markets. With DePaul’s MBA concentration in International Business, you’ll be prepared to navigate effectively as a manager in a complex and ever-changing global business environment through a multidisciplinary curriculum.

As a Communication and Technology major, you’ll learn to live and work in the modern digital environment. You’ll be given a foundation of theoretical knowledge, critical analysis and ethical awareness of how processes of communication affect and are affected by technology.

Communication and Technology majors will take courses that provide you with interdisciplinary knowledge, experiences, and practical skills that link technology and communication.

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

As a German major, you’ll study German and Austrian cultures (authors, musicians, literature), language and notions of German history. German is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union, and German-speaking countries are among the most influential engines driving culture, business and politics today.

Through your studies, you will learn that the German-speaking world is rich and multifaceted, including the works of Mozart, Goethe, Freud, Kafka and Marx. As a German major, you’ll explore the crucial questions of memory and history particular to the German past. You’ll become equipped with crucial skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and intercultural communication—providing you with career opportunities around the world.

DePaul’s Bachelor of Arts in Animation program emphasizes the art of animation, creativity, and critical thinking—while encouraging experimentation in form, content and medium—within a broad liberal arts context.

You will learn to draw innovative connections between animation and other subjects of inspiration. To develop your animation skills, you will produce live-action videos, draw web-based shorts inspired by Hollywood or anime, or design motion graphics for film titles and commercials.

In our Cybersecurity program, you’ll learn the fundamentals of information security, security infrastructure design and implementation, computer forensics, risk assessment and the impact of security requirements on business operations.

Throughout your cybersecurity degree coursework, you’ll learn to design, implement and manage various security infrastructure components. You’ll gain real-world experience by using DePaul’s state-of-the-art Security Laboratory, which includes multi-vendor firewalls, virtual private networks (VPN), intrusion detection and prevention systems, routers, switches, security scanners and event correlation systems.

The data science master’s will provide you with the technical knowledge and advanced computational skills to meet emerging challenges in big data analytics. Health Care
The health care concentration addresses the increasing need of data scientists responsible for gathering, integrating, analyzing and presenting health care data. Some courses are available online. Data science master’s students will learn analytics methods to support clinical decision systems, to improve patients’ outcomes and patients’ experience, and to improve clinical care and costs.

The master's in Software Engineering provides students with skills that are widely applicable, highly in demand, and richly rewarded. Software engineering is a discipline concerned with the processes, methodologies, techniques, and tools of developing high-quality software systems in a cost-effective manner. The Software Engineering program emphasizes the best software engineering practices, current methodologies, emerging technologies, and their applications in various industries. It also emphasizes the development of communication and presentation skills in a team-based software development environment. The curriculum encompasses all important aspects of software engineering, including: requirements engineering, software architecture and design, software construction, software testing and quality assurance, software maintenance, and software project management.

Software Development
This concentration addresses the foundations, methodologies, and tools for developing high quality large-scale software systems, with an emphasis on the technical issues of software development. Students in this concentration will gain technical expertise and experiences to become competent and successful members of software development teams in a wide range of development environments and application domains.

The tools and methods of Applied Mathematics are in demand wherever quantitative analysis is used for strategic decision-making. The MS in Applied Mathematics gives you the expertise you need to use those tools and methods in business, industry or government.

Applied and Computational Mathematics Concentration
The Applied and Computational Mathematics concentration is intended for students seeking a career as quantitative analysts, computational scientists, or applied mathematicians, or for those planning to continue the study of applied mathematics at the doctoral level. Students pursuing this concentration are exposed to a variety of mathematical methods, models, and computational tools that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry.

In our geography program, you’ll learn how to apply methods such as observation, visualization, analysis and modeling to explain the spatial relationships between people and their physical environments.

As a geography major, you’ll take advantage of the department’s cutting-edge technical resources and hands-on research approach. You’ll also learn how to use tools such as Google Earth, satellite image processing, computer mapping, global positioning systems (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) to stay ahead of industry trends.

In addition to a variety of combined degree programs, we offer geography majors a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Geography and Secondary Education Social Science, which allows you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.
