The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

Earn your master’s in International Studies and develop a complex, informal perspective on global inequality. This academically rigorous, thesis-optional program, grounded in critical theory, focuses on themes of power and global systems. We’re dedicated to building a community of scholars and researchers who demonstrate a commitment to questioning power and politics in a way that bridges theory and practice.

The MA in Animation degree provides a combination of artistic and technical training that prepares students for a future in 3D character animation, traditional animation, computer game art, or visual effects.

Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics, sometimes known as Motion Design, involves putting graphic forms, text, and photographic elements into motion using the principles of animation. These are almost always paired with sound and music for a specific purpose, such as in advertisements, educational and industrial videos, films and television titles, visual effects, and video games. The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

As an Italian major, you will study the language, literature and culture of the Italian-speaking world. You will learn how the Italian influence extends throughout the world in art, music, literature, fashion and cuisine.

Chicago is home to vibrant Italian and Italian-American communities, providing you with opportunities to visit the Little Italy neighborhood, dine at Italian restaurants and attend Italian cultural events, all while developing proficiency in Italian language.

Take advantage of DePaul’s study abroad program at Italiaidea in Rome or at Università Cattolica in Milan. We also offer short-term study abroad programs in Milan, Bologna, Parma and Moderna titled “Italy: Food and Fashion.”

The Sports Communication program will prepare you for career opportunities in the sports industry. As you work towards your degree in Sports Communication, you’ll learn to view sports as a business, and how companies and sports organizations communicate and manage relationships with their fans, sponsors and the media.

As a Sports Communication major, you’ll take College of Communication and Driehaus College of Business courses, which will provide you with interdisciplinary knowledge and skills that link communication and business theory.

Living in Chicago, you’ll have access to world class media and global sports organizations such as the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox. During coursework for your degree in Sports Communication, you’ll be introduced to a vast array of sports communication pros, many of whom are DePaul alums and can help you gain valuable internship experience.

DePaul’s Communication Studies program encourages you to think, speak and write clearly. Because communication involves interacting with others, the courses you’ll take as a Communication Studies major will teach you to communicate in a variety of public, small group and performance-style settings.

As a Communication Studies major, you’ll be encouraged to become an ethical communicator, to view events from multiple perspectives, to understand the multicultural influences of communication in today’s world and to question the basic problems of human communication in order to understand self, others and events.

Because communication is involved in the majority of professions, Communication Studies majors find that this is a valuable degree, whether you’re interested in working in politics, non-profit organizations, education or research.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Global Public Health
The Diplomacy and Global Public Health concentration provides students with a foundation for applying the tools and understanding of diplomatic practices to mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy and leadership in the field of international public health. Students will have the opportunity to place the study and practice of diplomacy into conversation with the disciplines of behavior theory, health care, forced migration and public policy.
