The primary purpose of the Department of Political Science's Global Governance concentration is to enable students to study and increase their understanding of the causes and consequences of globalization as well as the political, economic and ecological dimensions of globalization. The program is organized around various themes of "global significance," such as global governance and human rights, including issues of peace and conflict among peoples and states; global terrorism; and the interrelationships of global justice, rights and responsibilities with new models of international organization, administration and development.

The Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology is a rigorous, streamlined, pre-professional program unique in Southeast Florida that will enable students to pursue competitive professional training programs in the health sciences. This program is tailored for students who seek entrance into top-tier schools in the fields of medicine, veterinary science, pharmacology, and more.  

Students pursuing a master’s or a doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, or Psychology, including those at FAU, will also find the B.S. in Medical Biology an attractive path.

Students majoring in Medical Biology will benefit from a challenging, highly-structured course plan designed to fulfill the prerequisites of medically-focused programs through pre-selected core and elective courses that will prepare students for professional entrance exams, moving students one step closer to their academic and professional goals. This structured flight plan offers students a streamlined path to completing the degree.

In addition to the robust coursework, students will have the opportunity to actively participate in all phases of research alongside world-class researchers – from the planning and execution of an experiment to the analysis and dissemination of the results, in the areas of biology, chemistry, neuroscience, and biomedical science

Accounting is renowned as the language and basic tool of business. Every type of business, from private industry, to local, state, and federal public careers, to government, and even academia require accountants. Accountant skills are in demand and they always will be; the job opportunities that exist today are better than ever.

The School of Accounting is selective. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Students who have a high-standing in pre-business courses and/or relevant business experience are preferable to those who do not have such qualifications. Students who have been dismissed from any traditional Accounting program are not eligible for re-admission.

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering offers a program of study leading to the degree of Master of Science with Major in Civil Engineering (MSCV). The mission of the program is to meet the advanced civil engineering educational needs of recent graduates of undergraduate engineering degree programs, practicing engineers and those non-engineering professionals wishing to redirect their career paths. Graduates of the program possess the following attributes or educational outcomes:

• Knowledge in civil engineering and related subjects significantly beyond the baccalaureate level.
• Ability to independently conduct research or a significant practice-oriented project in civil engineering.
• Ability to communicate their ideas and results in written, oral, and graphical forms.

These educational outcomes result from successful completion of a well-planned, rigorous set of courses and a major capstone experience (either a thesis or practice-oriented project). Students wishing to continue their education but not pursue a formal academic degree are welcome to take graduate courses with the appropriate technical preparation.

The Bachelor of Arts with major in Health Science degree is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare-related professions. This degree provides broad-based interdisciplinary training with a core in the basic sciences and requires a concentration in one of the following areas: Geriatrics (Aging Studies), Women’s Health, Public/Global/Environmental Health, Science and Behavioral and Mental Health.

The program structure enables students to take relevant coursework in various colleges and departments across FAU to broaden their understanding of factors that both positively and negatively impact the healthcare system, patients and practitioners. In addition, through the Health Science course sequence, students learn how professionals from various fields of practice (medicine, pharmacy, social work, nursing, etc.) interact in a collaborative manner. Students also have access to clinical observation opportunities and other extracurricular activities (lab experiences, internships, research).

The Master of Science with Major in Information Technology and Management (MSITM) is designed for highly motivated individuals with background in information technology, information systems, data analytics, computer science and related disciplines, and prepares students for engineering and management positions in several areas including software engineering, information technology, database systems, data analytics, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) offers two concentrations:

1. Advanced Information Technology; and
2. Computer Science Data Analytics

Biomedical Engineering is a broad and emerging field that impacts drug delivery, surgery, diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Students successfully completing the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering (MSBioMedE) degree program will be prepared for professional careers in businesses related to medical diagnostics, prosthetic devices, and neural and other implants; the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries; and consulting in health-related fields, as well as other positions in industry, commerce, education, and government. Students will also be prepared to continue their formal education at the PhD level in a variety of science and engineering disciplines and at the MD level in certain cases.

The Biomedical Engineering program is unique by allowing a vast choice of electives including biological sciences, biomedical sciences, complex systems and brain sciences, and nursing in addition to three core courses.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

We have all become keenly aware of the rising frequency of threats from both man-made and natural disasters that include natural disasters such as Hurricanes Irma and Michael and the Camp fire in California, to terrorist attacks and events such as  September 11, 2001 in New York, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the Orlando nightclub shooting.

That means a day-in-the-life of a Public Safety professional looks vastly different than it did even a few decades ago, which gives you virtually limitless opportunities to make a real impact. Here’s a quick look at the wide variety of Public Safety careers you could choose to pursue after graduation.

The BPSA degree in the School of Public Administration is ideal for professionals and pre-professionals interested in police, fire, and disaster response practice and administration. The 18 core credit hours and 60 total credit hours provide:

• A professional/ pre-professional degree program for students entering the fields of law enforcement, homeland security, and disaster response;
• Interested students a foundation for continuing in a professionally focused graduate program; and
• An interdisciplinary degree that allows students to combine key areas from several disciplines to graduate with a pre-professional degree.

For Students interested in law enforcement, terrorism-response, administrative application of the law and corrections, we recommended the Law Enforcement & Corrections concentration.

Geomatics is a new term incorporating cutting edge technology in image processing, digital photogrammetry, remote sensing, satellite-based global positioning, geographic information systems, drone based mapping, laser scanning, surveying and digital mapping. In addition, geomatics engineering can involve work in land development, construction surveying, forensic surveying, hydrographic surveying and spatial data analysis.
