The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science are proud to offer Florida’s first MS program in Artificial Intelligence!  Be at the forefront of the fourth industrial revolution, as AI is transforming every industry.  Our innovative program and training curriculum cover AI theory, methods, and technologies. We are educating students and training professionals to develop new skills for jobs that are not yet defined, so they can join the first generation of an AI-and-autonomy workforce.

The Master of Science with Major in Artificial Intelligence program offers both thesis and non-thesis options. Both options require a minimum of 30 credits, as specified in Degree Requirements.

Our programs provide the flexibility you need, allowing students to pick and choose between traditional and fully online classes, with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of research, both taking place in key areas in South Florida and across the world.

The International Business major arms students with the tools to tackle challenges in business while empowering them to contribute and engage in organizations and communities in a global business environment. Program goals are accomplished through an active partnership with the business community while the program continuously enhances the quality and impact of international business education.

Computer science is the study of computers, computer software, and computational systems including their theory, design, development, and application. Principal areas within computer science include Internet and web programming, mobile system development, data mining, and machine learning, social networks, video game development, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, database systems, programming languages, software engineering, and theory of computing. Computer science incorporates concepts from mathematics, engineering, and psychology.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is a program for students to study computers, computer software, and computation systems including their theory, design, development, and application.

The Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering offers an extensive Master of Science degree program in Ocean Engineering with the aim of preparing individuals for engineering challenges to working in the ocean environment.

Specialization in specific Ocean Engineering programs is offered through in-depth studies in the areas of Acoustics, Signal processing, Materials and Corrosion, Marine structures, Marine Hydrodynamics and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.

The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Social Science was designed for students who wish to study broadly in the social sciences rather than concentrate on a particular discipline. The knowledge and intellectual training provided is excellent preparation for careers in government, public service, or law. 

FAU's Sociology major is distinctive as a flexible skills based major. The major lets students choose a plan of study that suits their career interests, focuses on topics that intrigue and challenge them, and helps them to build their own "sociological tool kit" for addressing personal and social problems. Every course includes coverage of core skills and basic knowledge of the discipline in addition to material that is distinctive to the topics. Because of how the major is designed, students who major in Sociology will have many opportunities to develop the skills necessary to ask and answer questions about social behavior, social structure and change, and social trends as well as to read skillfully, write and speak clearly and conduct effective presentations.

The Department of Physics offers undergraduate programs leading to both BS and BA degrees. The Bachelor of Arts program offers a specialization in physics to students desiring a general cultural education. Flexibility in electives also makes it possible to combine a physics major with a concentration in other areas such as acoustics, materials science, oceanography, premedical science, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or business.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

The Department of Marketing offers programs of study that prepare students for professional careers in the growing fields of brand management, retailing management, digital marketing, social media, advertising, and personal selling and sales management. Applied projects are interwoven with academic coursework to expose students to a range of current marketing trends and strategies. Original research and creative scholarship among department faculty contribute to improvements in both the theory and practice of marketing. Students are prepared to become effective marketing managers in the customer-centered marketplace of tomorrow.
