Computer engineering focuses on system, software and hardware aspects of computing, and includes programming and software engineering. Students learn about electronics, logic design, computer design and architecture, microprocessors, design automation, operating systems, and software engineering. Computer engineer's career opportunities are limitless and include working in the computer industry or with companies that integrate computers into more complex products.

The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) is a professional program that provides students with the knowledge base and analytical and design skills to address issues that affect the quality of life in neighborhoods, suburbs, cities, and regions. The curriculum consists of planning lecture courses, studio/lab courses, and professional practice courses that give students real-world planning experience. Students select courses from a wide variety of suggested electives that allow them to focus on topics of particular interest. Graduates of the program qualify for positions in a variety of public and private organizations, including local and state planning departments, nonprofit organizations, and private sector planning and development firms.

The BA with a concentration in Studio Art is designed for a general education in the visual arts. Students are given rigorous training in the foundations of art, as well as in ways to explore new and innovative questions, theories and ideas that drive art today. Students are encouraged to create individualized programs of study anchored by any three areas of interest in the visual arts. Majors are expected to explore the variety and breadth of contemporary art practice in order to develop their own understanding of directions in visual art and their own artistic practice. Studio and seminar experiences are supplemented with field trips, visiting artist lectures, and critiques in order to help students begin to develop their own interests and projects as artists.

Secondary Teacher Education degree programs are offered in partnership with the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. These programs are Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) approved. This state and CAEP approval represents the transferability of teaching credentials from state-to-state. Secondary programs currently approved include the following subject area and grade levels:

The Musical Theatre Concentration is an extension of our BFA Performance Track. Students accepted into this concentration graduate with a BFA in Performance with a Concentration in Musical Theatre. Although it is not a traditional triple threat BFA musical theatre track, students are required to Minor in Dance, and private voice lessons are available on campus and highly encouraged. Focusing on the actor who can sing and move, these students take BFA acting classes with additional classes in Musical Theatre Dance, Musical Theatre Audition, and Musical Theatre Scene Study with accompanying labs in basic music theory, vocal technique, and sight-singing. Students are expected to make continued progress in their development as actors and artists. Retention is earned by the faculty’s evaluation of the student’s work, commitment, progress and personal growth.

The International Business major arms students with the tools to tackle challenges in business while empowering them to contribute and engage in organizations and communities in a global business environment. Program goals are accomplished through an active partnership with the business community while the program continuously enhances the quality and impact of international business education.

The Biochemistry B.S. Program is designed for students pursuing careers in biochemistry and related disciplines, such as molecular biology, biophysics, and pharmacology. Additionally, premedical students who wish to pursue a research-oriented curriculum might be interested in this program.

The Health Administration major provides students with a university education that promotes personal and professional growth as well as concentrated awareness of health systems and their effects on society. Flexibility in course selection empowers and encourages students to study in a program that will not only sharpen their analytical skills and expose them to a new way of thinking, but will also develop their leadership skills and reinforce social responsibility as citizens and future health administrators.

The rising cost of healthcare provides a problem with great opportunities for graduates of Health Administration who can demonstrate affective business solutions. Graduates have a choice of working in hospital administration, mental health facilities, medical group practices and many others.

The degree in Health Administration - Bachelor of Health Services (BHS) - offered through the Department of Management at FAU, College of Business, is an Associate Member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration ( AUPHA.org). The program is also fully accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

 The Department of Exercise Science & Health Promotion (ESHP) emphasizes technology-based instruction to improve critical thinking skills necessary for health-related professions while publishing molecular and behavioral based research that informs lifestyle choices that reduce the occurrence and severity of chronic disease.
