The Bachelor of Arts with major in Health Science degree is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare-related professions. This degree provides broad-based interdisciplinary training with a core in the basic sciences and requires a concentration in one of the following areas: Geriatrics (Aging Studies), Women’s Health, Public/Global/Environmental Health, Science and Behavioral and Mental Health.

The program structure enables students to take relevant coursework in various colleges and departments across FAU to broaden their understanding of factors that both positively and negatively impact the healthcare system, patients and practitioners. In addition, through the Health Science course sequence, students learn how professionals from various fields of practice (medicine, pharmacy, social work, nursing, etc.) interact in a collaborative manner. Students also have access to clinical observation opportunities and other extracurricular activities (lab experiences, internships, research).

Management Information Systems (MIS) is a discipline and a profession that brings information and communication technologies to businesses and society. By applying information and communications technologies and systems, MIS solves real business problems and gives competitive advantage to firms. MIS focuses on the concepts and tools necessary for analyzing, designing, planning, developing, and managing organizational information resources.

MIS emphasizes management and looks at applications and technological products as part of a system. MIS graduates have a systems perspective and business processes in mind. They are service oriented and able to communicate client needs to IT staff. They are educated in people skills, project management, and teamwork experience. Although entry level positions are similar to those earned by computer science graduates, MIS graduates are more likely to move into managerial positions overseeing and directing the design and development of systems solutions for companies.

Cybersecurity Concentration

The Bachelor of Arts with Major in Music is a degree that balances a general study of music with elective coursework in the liberal arts and humanities, providing a well-rounded liberal-arts-based educational experience for students wishing to pursue a variety of academic interests.

The Master of Science with Major in Information Technology and Management (MSITM) is designed for highly motivated individuals with background in information technology, information systems, data analytics, computer science and related disciplines, and prepares students for engineering and management positions in several areas including software engineering, information technology, database systems, data analytics, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) offers two concentrations:

1. Advanced Information Technology; and
2. Computer Science Data Analytics

We have all become keenly aware of the rising frequency of threats from both man-made and natural disasters that include natural disasters such as Hurricanes Irma and Michael and the Camp fire in California, to terrorist attacks and events such as  September 11, 2001 in New York, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and the Orlando nightclub shooting.

That means a day-in-the-life of a Public Safety professional looks vastly different than it did even a few decades ago, which gives you virtually limitless opportunities to make a real impact. Here’s a quick look at the wide variety of Public Safety careers you could choose to pursue after graduation.

The BPSA degree in the School of Public Administration is ideal for professionals and pre-professionals interested in police, fire, and disaster response practice and administration. The 18 core credit hours and 60 total credit hours provide:

• A professional/ pre-professional degree program for students entering the fields of law enforcement, homeland security, and disaster response;
• Interested students a foundation for continuing in a professionally focused graduate program; and
• An interdisciplinary degree that allows students to combine key areas from several disciplines to graduate with a pre-professional degree.

For Students interested in law enforcement, terrorism-response, administrative application of the law and corrections, we recommended the Law Enforcement & Corrections concentration.

Our programs provide the flexibility you need, allowing students to pick and choose between traditional and fully online classes, with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of research, both taking place in key areas in South Florida and across the world.

Environmental engineers integrate principles of engineering, mathematics, earth science, soil science, life science, and materials science with an emphasis on the design and development of solutions to environmental challenges, such as improvement of water, air pollution control, safe disposal of wastes, and the stewardship of our natural resources.

The major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Social Science was designed for students who wish to study broadly in the social sciences rather than concentrate on a particular discipline. The knowledge and intellectual training provided is excellent preparation for careers in government, public service, or law. 

The Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering offers an extensive Master of Science degree program in Ocean Engineering with the aim of preparing individuals for engineering challenges to working in the ocean environment.

Specialization in specific Ocean Engineering programs is offered through in-depth studies in the areas of Acoustics, Signal processing, Materials and Corrosion, Marine structures, Marine Hydrodynamics and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.
