Environmental Chemistry Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Choose the environmental chemistry emphasis and you’ll have excellent preparation for becoming an environmental laboratory professional.

Lay the foundation you need to set yourself up as an expert in marketing. Choose your focus and advance in skill with guidance from our experienced, available faculty. You'll gain the competitive edge by mastering how to bring a product or service from the idea stage to marketplace acceptance.

Get real-world experience with Nashville-area businesses and social enterprises. You'll graduate with the clout you need to flourish in corporate marketing, advertising, public relations and more.

Contribute your vision to the world. Learn the foundations and practice of animation, from character design to top-end computer graphics and 3D graphics. At Lipscomb, you'll grow your creative skills under some of the most prominent animators in the U.S., including Tom Bancroft and John Pomeroy. You’ll connect with and learn from experts in Maya software, the industry standard in computer graphics and CGI effects. You’ll even have the option of taking on opportunities in Los Angeles — our department’s Los Angeles internship program as well as a yearly trip to work at an animation studio there.

There are no gimmicks or trends here.  We're following the time-honored, Socratic method of pursuing truth — and doing so in dialogue with the Christian intellectual tradition.

We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.

Professional Chemistry
Want to be a chemist ? This path is for you. You'll go beyond the basic principles of chemistry, learning the complex fields of organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry. Plus, you'll have special courses designed for research and intensive specialized and integrated labs.

Sure, two plus two is four. But if you’re here, you’re probably interested in exploring what’s beyond math’s basics. And your options are endless: statistics, calculus, geometry, abstract algebra, topology, differential equations and many more! Dig deeper into the incredible body of knowledge that constitutes mathematics by earning your degree in the field.

Learn from highly qualified professors who care about your personal development just as much as your academic success. Work alongside peers who will challenge and support your intellect and welcome your enthusiasm. A faith-based perspective applied to the discipline will help you see the field in a new light.

Plus, the problem-solving skills you finesse will apply far beyond just equations. A mathematics major will fully equip you for employment in the industry or for enrolling in a graduate program in mathematics.

Applied
The more mathematics an engineering, science, computer science or business student takes, the more jobs openings and graduate school openings are available to that student. The applied mathematics degree is an especially good choice for a double major for students who are already required to have a minor in mathematics, such as engineering and computer science majors. It also qualifies business students to work as an actuary.

Transform your passion for food and hospitality into a lifelong career. Learn about meal planning and preparation, culinary design and development, safety and service guidelines, and the business management skills to combine it all.

Master the ins and outs of the restaurant industry, from human resources to food production. Our seasoned faculty will develop both your strategic and creative skills and guide you as you explore your career options. Plus, our Christian worldview informs our approach to hospitality — learn how and why food systems management is a form of ministry.  

From this program, you can go on to culinary school, restaurant management and nonprofit management — with a firm foundation in business, since you’ll automatically earn a business minor. Between coursework, faculty mentorship and internship opportunities, you’ll be well-prepared for whatever it is you are called to do.

Pretty deep language for something that absolutely rules daily life (like the fact we walk on the ground rather than float hither and yon). Investigate the principles of physics with a high regard for creation’s God-given wonder, complexity, and amazing power.

French Teaching: French teaching majors have the opportunity to build language proficiency while also developing expertise in teaching language to others. With a contemporary approach to language instruction, our students learn how to give quality input in the target language (known as Comprehensible Input) and to design activities that require meaningful interaction. We believe teaching is a creative endeavor and we prepare our students for the language and practical demands of the profession.

There's no capstone required for our biochemistry majors. But most of our students take part in undergraduate research at Lipscomb, at major research universities — or both. It's common for graduates of both of our biochemistry degrees to get into recognized research universities and medical schools across the U.S. Whatever your goals are, we'll help you get there.
