Our program sets itself apart by being distinctly Christian — with a plethora of research opportunities. We provide flexible emphases for our applied chemistry major, from computer science or mathematics to business, green chemistry, environmental chemistry and forensic science.

Green Chemistry Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Our green chemistry emphasis is one of the few curricula in the U.S. at the undergraduate level. With it you’ll find new, safer, and more efficient ways to perform chemical reactions.

We all want to know the answers to the so-called “big questions” of life. So seek them in an intellectually satisfying way at Lipscomb. There are no gimmicks or trends here.  We're following the time-honored, Socratic method of pursuing truth — and doing so in dialogue with the Christian intellectual tradition.

We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.

Become skilled in one of the most valuable cultural and economic fields in the U.S. — the production and distribution of motion pictures and television. By studying film production at Lipscomb, you’ll learn the art of storytelling and how to express your original ideas on screen, in an environment that emphasizes collaboration, compassion and care for individuals and communities around the world. You’ll plan, crew and shoot projects, sharpen your screenwriting skills and learn the business, both its history and specific application. You’ll also experiment and work with cutting-edge technology, including cinematic VR, and you will have a plethora of opportunities for practical experience and networking.

If you choose the teaching route, you will be prepared in the areas of classroom management and intercultural competence along with literature, writing, cultural studies and communication core studies. The mission of the Exercise Science Program is to prepare entry-level Exercise Science professionals in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains by integrating Christian faith and practice with academic excellence.  The Program will provide students with the didactic and experiential foundation in the study of human physiology and movement necessary to succeed whether pursuing a career, a professional field of study or engaging in advanced academic work. This mission is achieved through classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory instruction, scholarship, and service-learning opportunities designed to promote and develop critical thinking and effective communication skills.

Our graduates are in demand in every facet of chemistry and biochemistry. And that includes the medical, industrial, governmental, educational and nonprofit sectors. By the way, more than 50 percent of our biochemistry graduates have earned doctorate degrees. So get started with us — choose the degree path that is right for you. Our experienced faculty will cultivate you. The success of our graduates proves that.

There's no capstone required for our biochemistry majors. But most of our students take part in undergraduate research at Lipscomb, at major research universities — or both. It's common for graduates of both of our biochemistry degrees to get into recognized research universities and medical schools across the U.S. Whatever your goals are, we'll help you get there.

Prepare to make a difference as an effective, ethical financier. Our experienced faculty will guide and grow you. You'll have opportunities for experiential learning, including managerial finance, international economics, portfolio management. In our Financial Markets Lab, you'll learn to use Bloomberg Terminals to analyze financial data and metrics. You'll even have a keycard to access the lab at any time.

You'll have internship and study abroad opportunities. You'll be part of the Lipscomb team that competes against other universities in the TVA Investment Challenge. You and your team will manage a portfolio of securities on TVA's behalf. Each team competing will be responsible for security selection, portfolio balancing and other fund management decisions. With rigorous and relevant curriculum, chances for hands-on learning and real-life experience, you'll have the foundation you need to thrive.

So we've designed a broad curriculum with opportunities that will give you the training you need for your career goals. You'll learn to understand yourself and others better. Our electives will allow you to study what interests you the most.

Excel with research and internship opportunities in Nashville. You'll also have the chance to attend and present research at conferences and join in Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology.

Build relationships with our respected, experienced faculty — award-winning professors and working clinicians. Our faculty holds six Outstanding Teacher awards, two Baker Awards, and two Outstanding Advisor Awards. They represent the areas of counseling, family therapy, clinical psychology, health psychology, neuroscience, child development and cognitive psychology.

In our studio art program, you’ll be exposed to mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, videography, and printmaking. With a wide range of artistic knowledge, you’ll be prepared to influence and better the world through art.

You’ll learn from faculty who have a wealth of experience in artistic mediums and international exhibitions, in an environment that integrates faith and work. Gain 24/7 access to our studios, meet with exhibiting artists in our on-campus John C. Hutcheson gallery and during master classes, and exhibit your own art at our off-campus, student-run Open gallery in downtown Nashville.

Computer technology is at the core of nearly every modern enterprise, so let us help you develop your knowledge. Our expert faculty specialize in different areas of computing and can help you broaden the skills you need to be valuable in any modern workplace.  We'll teach you to study, design, create, utilize, support and manage computer-based systems, software applications and computer hardware. This program is all about all things modern — embedded systems in automobiles, smart homes and even mobile and distributed systems.
