Let us ready you to be a middle or high school teacher. As a biology teaching major, you'll get to network during clinical practice classes, which will set you up for employment by graduation. You'll have the chance to go to the Tennessee Science Teachers Association meeting or the National Science Teachers Association meeting. You'll get to learn about teaching ideas, influential research and network with other science teachers from across the U.S.

Biology teaching majors receive the same core as biology (general) majors. A special course developed only for those pursuing teaching is Methods of Teaching Biology. This is a 3 hour course usually taken with Clinical Practice II, which combines content with pedagogy. In this course, students learn not only their craft but also have time structured for edTPA, safety in the classroom and grant writing.

After all, our world needs smart, innovative artists. We start with foundational instruction on all theatrical aspects that streamline into more specific courses each year. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

Business Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)

Green Chemistry Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Our green chemistry emphasis is one of the few curricula in the U.S. at the undergraduate level. With it you’ll find new, safer, and more efficient ways to perform chemical reactions.

Teaching
The mathematics department at Lipscomb University prepares you to be an excellent teacher who is both mathematically sound and pedagogically proficient. We work closely with Lipscomb’s nationally ranked College of Education to ensure that you are trained and up to date in the latest educational standards and trends. The extra hours of foreign language required for a B.A. make for a highly marketable degree due to the diversity of Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We have a very high placement rate for employment of our graduates. Recent graduates have been recognized for excellence in teaching. Two have been named Teacher of the Year in Metro Nashville within the last five years.
