The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Teaching is designed for students intending to pursue a career in teaching theatre at the elementary, middle school, or high school level. This degree also prepares students to pursue an advanced degree in education. At its core, the BA in Theatre Teaching provides well-rounded theatrical training mixed with superior education courses. In this degree, students take 45 hours in theatre-specific courses, including acting, directing, and design. They also take 30 hours in education courses designed to sharpen their pedagogy skills. Additionally, there are numerous mainstage opportunities in our five productions each year along with scene work, student films, and Nashville professional opportunities. All students complete student teaching at an area school before graduation.

Investigate the workings of the natural world, building a deeper understanding of bioscience and a deeper appreciation for the processes of life. Assess the theoretical implications of the field from a philosophical perspective while remaining grounded in scientific knowledge.

Explore the complex relationships between ethics and biology. You’ll debate about subjects like informed consent, medical confidentiality, and allocation of resources, as well as hot topics like euthanasia and abortion. Consider the set of moral principles that medical professionals are faced with every day.

You’ll work with the best and brightest of our biology, chemistry and philosophy faculty to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the history, psychology, theory and science that revolves around the field of bioscience, specifically as it relates to health and medicine. Emerge from the program as a conscientious, informed researcher or scientist.

The mission of the Exercise Science Program is to prepare entry-level Exercise Science professionals in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains by integrating Christian faith and practice with academic excellence.  The Program will provide students with the didactic and experiential foundation in the study of human physiology and movement necessary to succeed whether pursuing a career, a professional field of study or engaging in advanced academic work. This mission is achieved through classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory instruction, scholarship, and service-learning opportunities designed to promote and develop critical thinking and effective communication skills.

Business Emphasis (Chemistry major - applied)
Gain expertise in accounting, economics and finance with an emphasis in business. You’ll have the chance to learn from experienced faculty who understand what skills you need to succeed. 

The International Affairs major is the perfect way to maximize your semester abroad. Your 12 Global Learning credits will be applied to the major, fulfilling a core part of the coursework for this major. International Affairs integrates your language training, travels, and Lipscomb education. Further courses in political science and history will complement your experiences and broaden your knowledge base.

The world is shrinking and every career has an international facet to be explored. A semester abroad can become a value-added and efficient asset when combined with the International Affairs major. It merges an exciting experience into a scholarly pursuit.

Grow your understanding of the relationship between data, technology and people. Our professionals will guide you in the foundations of data science, including logical reasoning and computer programming. And our challenging and relevant curriculum will prepare you for a competitive market.

You'll become adept at building and refining information systems to get the knowledge you need. You'll understand why people seek information, theoretically, virtually and physically. We developed our applied biochemistry curriculum to give you exactly what you need to excel. Our dedicated faculty will prepare you for admission to competitive health-related professional schools — without advanced mathematics. Many of our applied biochemistry graduates are flourishing medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists or physician assistants. Others have found success in industry or graduate study within chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or microbiology.

Sure, two plus two is four. But if you’re here, you’re probably interested in exploring what’s beyond math’s basics. And your options are endless: statistics, calculus, geometry, abstract algebra, topology, differential equations and many more! Dig deeper into the incredible body of knowledge that constitutes mathematics by earning your degree in the field.

Applied
The more mathematics an engineering, science, computer science or business student takes, the more jobs openings and graduate school openings are available to that student. The applied mathematics degree is an especially good choice for a double major for students who are already required to have a minor in mathematics, such as engineering and computer science majors. It also qualifies business students to work as an actuary.

We all want to know the answers to the so-called “big questions” of life. So seek them in an intellectually satisfying way at Lipscomb. There are no gimmicks or trends here.  We're following the time-honored, Socratic method of pursuing truth — and doing so in dialogue with the Christian intellectual tradition.

We approach the study of philosophy by reading the classics and by wrestling with ideas and reasons in civil debate with one another. What makes an action right as opposed to wrong?  What is knowledge, and can we have it?  Does anything at all make life meaningful?  How can an all-powerful and good God allow evil to occur?  What distinguishes cogent from fallacious reasoning, and how can we best analyze and assess arguments?  What is the nature of truth, beauty, goodness, and freedom?   

You'll study the work of the greatest minds in Western history. And you'll learn to identify and evaluate the fundamental assumptions that shape how we think about the world — and ourselves. Use the skills you develop in philosophy to pursue internships and job opportunities in a variety of fields, including government, politics, and history. Or continue onto law school, business school, or graduate school to hone your focus even further.

Our restorative criminal justice major integrates the values of Christ with a deeper knowledge of crime and justice. Let us help you gain a hands-on understanding of restorative approaches to due process. You'll analyze social and psychological theories of crime and society with our expert faculty. You'll learn with incarcerated students in classes at the Tennessee Prison for Women as part of our nationally-recognized Lipscomb Initiative for Education (LIFE).

Let us teach you a holistic approach to achieving accountability and healing relationships. Within our restorative criminal justice major, you'll study criminal justice practices rather than law enforcement implementation. You'll plan ways to positively address harm caused by illegal actions. By the time you graduate, you'll be uniquely prepared for your career or graduate work in many options including law, social work and theology.

Restorative criminal justice holds that "crime" is a violation of human relationships. It believes that all stakeholders (offender, victims, and community) in the offense should have a voice in the process of making things as right as possible.

Restorative criminal justice does not reject punishment but does embrace a holistic approach to achieving accountability. This interdisciplinary major embraces the holistic approach.
