LIU Brooklyn’s Health Science bachelor’s degree program, which is part of the School of Health Professions, offers a flexible and multifaceted curriculum that is grounded in science, health care, and wellness. A primary goal of the major is to prepare students for professional health careers in physical therapy, public health, respiratory care, nursing, medicine, and other areas.

The Master of Public Health (M.P.H) is a professional degree program for individuals seeking training and experience in applied public health. The 42-credit program has strong working relationships with community organizations and health care providers as well as with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It answers a growing demand for skilled public health professionals and leads to diverse and rewarding career opportunities. Candidates interested in enrolling in the program must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and must fulfill the academic criteria for admission.

Public health is the science and art of protecting and improving the health of communities (families, neighborhoods, groups of people) and the population as a whole. Every day, millions of people suffer from preventable injuries, illnesses, and chronic diseases resulting in impaired quality of life and premature death. The goal of Public Health professionals is to help prevent disease, disability, and premature death. The vision of the Public Health movement is health for all and healthy people in healthy communities. Teams of Public Health professionals from a variety of backgrounds use strategies such as: policy, system/service, and built-environment changes, education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research.

The Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics (BSDA) will prepare students for the growing demand in industries for data-literate professionals who can understand and perform data analytics and apply the knowledge in decision-making in various practical fields. In addition to the common core curriculum, the upper-division coursework innovatively consists of the following modules:

Foundational Module: programming in Python, Data Analytics with Excel, R, and Python, Data Structures and Algorithms
Core Module: Database Management, Data Visualization, Advanced Statistics, Data Mining and Business Intelligence, Machine Leaning, Intro to AI
Applied Module: Data Analytics Ethics, Intro to Fintech, Intro to Modern Cryptography, Computational Genomics, Deep Learning, and Capstone Project

Master of Public Administration prepares students for public service responsibilities, blending management theory with practical applications in government, health and non-profit organizations. Students from diverse backgrounds with varying levels of professional expertise, are taught by faculty members who are current in all aspects of this continuously evolving and growing field.

The program of study is flexible and can be tailored to accommodate the professional requirements of the student by offering specialization courses that provide them with the opportunity to examine a specific management function or an area of application in greater depth.

Areas of specialization include public administration, non-profit management, urban government management, human resources management, law and management, international public management and social policy management. Other specializations can be developed in consultation with a faculty advisor from the broad spectrum of courses available through the Program and the School, as well as through courses available across the campus.

The program is registered by the New York State Department of Education. Graduates of the program receive a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology that satisfies the academic and professional requirements specified by ASHA for the CCC-SLP, and are eligible to apply for licensure in SLP by the New York State Department of Education's Office of the Professions. Students who wish to satisfy the New York State Education Office of Teaching requirements for Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) may also prepare for this certification as part of their graduate program. Students demonstrating proficiency (i.e., speaking, listening, reading, and writing) in a language other than English may further prepare for a certificate in Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities with a Bilingual Extension. This program will prepare students to work with individuals who are bilingual or speak a language other than English. The 36 to 63-credit Master’s of Business Administration (number of credits is based on your undergraduate coursework) provides the knowledge base and skills that enable professionals to become leaders in business by offering a comprehensive program which meets the needs of an ever-changing, global business environment. The program is offered on a part-time basis during the evenings and weekends with 15- and 7-week semesters, to accommodate the schedules of busy working professionals who are interested in advancing their careers. When you enroll in the program, you will join students representing every continent and possessing a variety of professional backgrounds, including those who work in corporate entities, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

You will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of business through the required courses. The department offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Arts degree that may either follow a specialized area of concentration or an integrated track, depending on the academic, creative and professional goals of the individual student. An area of concentration is a grouping of 24 or more credits in one of the following fields: Computer Graphics, Digital Design, Animation and Interactive Media; Digital Audio Production and Sound Design; Film, Television and Digital Video Production; Media Management; Photography/Digital Photography.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Technology, Entrepreneurship and Production puts students inside the recording studio and prepares them for a behind-the-scenes careers in the music industry. Students will develop exceptional competency in all aspects of the music making process.

New York City is the birthplace of some of the world’s most iconic artists as well as companies pioneering the $20 billion global music industry. Program graduates will have the tools to build successful careers in creative entrepreneurship, venue management, distribution, performance, songwriting, engineering and production.

The program will feature an experiential learning approach, grounded in the real world of music production and marketing, and follow a learning cohort model that places peer collaboration at the center of the educational experience. The program was founded around four pillars vital to the success of the modern musician:

The Roc Nation’s School of Music, Sports & Entertainment’s innovative B.A. in Sports Communication & Marketing is the first of it’s kind in the New York metro area. The program prepares students for careers in a dynamic and growing spectrum of sports media. As the $500 billion sports industry continues to grow, there will be increased demand for professionals with business and communications training.

Drawing on years of industry experience, LIU’s faculty experts will create a dynamic course of study through experiential learning and access to world-renowned sports industry professionals.

Students will gain practical experience in sports writing and reporting; promotion of sports teams, events and products; performing as a play-by-play announcer or program host; and production of sports content for traditional, online and social media. Students will also have the opportunity to engage with LIU’s robust alumni network, which includes notable sports reporters, publicists and experts in New York City and beyond. Graduates of the program will be ready for careers in sports broadcasting, sports management, or sports information.

B.S. in Marketing prepares students for professional careers in a wide variety of marketing functions within business and not-for-profit organizations. Marketing involves the study of new product development, marketing research, analysis of distribution systems, determination of pricing policies, promotion of products and ideas, business relationships, and predictions of consumer behavior.

As a marketing major, you will develop the creative, analytical and communication skills necessary to succeed in the field. You also will develop competencies in product and service promotion, distribution, buyer behavior and market research. Marketing courses focus on integrating theory and practical applications through the use of cases, computer simulations, and through hands-on field projects.

Recent graduates are pursuing marketing careers at companies such as Sony Music, Grey Advertising and Saatchi & Saatchi.
