The Bachelor of Science degree program in Artificial Intelligence is one of the first degrees of its kind in the country. Students of this program will build the foundational knowledge necessary to design computational systems that exhibit “human-like intelligence” such as the ability to interpret sensory input, learn from experience, understand human language, and support intelligent decision-making. Graduates will have the skill-set necessary to meet industry demand for workers able to contribute to research and development in Artificial Intelligence across all industry sectors. The program begins with introductory courses in programming, computer science, mathematics, and statistics that provide a firm technical foundation. The curriculum then introduces core artificial intelligence concepts and techniques including state-space search, game-playing, machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning with applications to various domains (e.g. computer vision, natural language processing and understanding).

The program is supported by a cutting-edge learning and design center which will provide students and faculty with state-of-the-art technologies, tools, and systems to support learning and research. This center will provide students with the opportunity to develop research projects and prototypes with the same big data and artificial intelligence platforms used in cutting-edge industry applications.

The Department of Biomedical, Health and Nutritional Sciences prepares students to become knowledgeable professionals dedicated to the highest standards of science and health care.

The MS Program in Biomedical Sciences offers a curriculum well suited to those who wish to work in a research laboratory, individuals seeking acceptance into post-graduate professional schools (e.g., medical or dental school) and students seeking a career in basic science research who are planning to continue in doctoral programs. Students are taught by expert faculty specializing in the fields of microbiology, hematology, immunology and clinical biochemistry. Students may join the laboratories of faculty and acquire excellent research experience.

To prepare the workforce of the future, the 30- credit M.S. in Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to educate and train skilled leaders to create AI applications and AI systems that are designed to solve complex real-world challenges and problems across many industry domains. The purpose of the program is to achieve this latter goal while addressing the emerging needs of the market. Additionally, the new program, with its faculty and students, aims to accelerate multidisciplinary research and discovery in LIU emerging signature areas: health, pharmaceutics, pharmacological engineering, bioinformatics, and business among others. The program will create new opportunities for research and economic development.

In the Department of Criminal Justice, undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to meet the constant demand for law enforcement and criminal justice professionals. Our programs also provide an excellent pathway toward the study of law.

Our core curriculum thoroughly explores the theory and practice of the criminal justice system. But you will customize your study through elective courses that focus on a particular area of interest. Our full-time faculty is an internationally renowned group of academic professionals, and our adjunct professors are working criminal justice professionals, including attorneys, judges and law enforcement officials.

The M.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science program is a 52- credit program requiring a 6-month full-time clinical placement. Students may begin as part-time but will require a full-time commitment in order to complete this graduate degree program.

Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) are highly skilled laboratory professionals who are qualified by national certification and NYS licensure to work in several areas of a clinical laboratory, including hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, chemistry, immunology and molecular diagnostics (CLS generalist). They play a key role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and illnesses. Using sophisticated laboratory equipment, CLS generalists perform tests and analyze cells, blood and other body fluids to detect abnormalities. They are a vital source of diagnostic information to doctors who use the test results to determine and monitor a course of treatment for patients.

LIU Global offers a BA degree in Global Studies, a discipline that investigates the world’s interdependent political, economic, cultural, and ecological systems. Global Studies equips future leaders with tools to address challenges that transcend national and disciplinary boundaries, preparing them to develop solutions at the local, national, regional, and global levels. The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration is designed to prepare students for a career in the organization and management of health services. Upon completion of the 120-credit degree program, graduates will be prepared to assume entry and mid-level positions in health care administration. Throughout the course of study, students will acquire a keen understanding of the political, social and economic components of the health services sector through courses that range from statistics to financial management. Special emphasis will be placed upon developing the students’ ability to identify, comprehend, describe and differentiate among the major components of the health services system.

Instructed by industry experts, the Fashion Merchandising curriculum integrates an experiential learning component through our student-run clothing boutique, The Student Body, where you will contribute to the retail store’s success by helping to choose inventory, manage operations, and advertise to the campus community. The Bachelor of Arts degree program in Criminal Justice is designed to meet the demands for professionals working in policing, corrections, prosecution and pretrial services, probation, parole, juveniles, public safety, victim services, civil and family courts, homeland security, international security, and other related fields.
