The International Year is a 1-semester program, equivalent to a year's study of a bachelor's degree. Biology
Hone your critical thinking skills and round out your education with unique research opportunities when you pursue a bachelor of science degree in biology. As part of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s School of Science and Engineering, you’ll benefit from small classes led by award-winning faculty and hands-on research. Our undergraduate biology degree has six tracks, fitting a wide variety of student interests and career goals.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of biology. You’ll also understand the scientific method and use it to develop and conduct biological experiments. The courses required for a finance major are designed to help students prepare for careers in Corporate Financial Management, Investment Planning, Brokerage, Insurance, Commercial Banking, Real Estate and other similar fields.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of finance and may select finance electives in their area of interest such as insurance, real estate, accounting, or expand their knowledge in investments or financial analysis. You’ll be able to demonstrate knowledge of key finance theories and concepts, and will apply these Finance theories and concepts correctly.

History
History is a popular major, not just because it is a fascinating subject, but also because it encourages students to develop useful skills that will serve them in graduate and professional programs and in many occupations. Students of history find themselves in classes that are reading and writing intensive. They hone their thinking ability as they encounter diverse views of historical development to implement methods and theories used in analyzing and understanding the past.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will understand, evaluate, and creatively use large amounts of information and put these to fruition in reading, writing, and speaking effectively.  You will also make keen observations, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions. As apart of this degree, you will also know and understand the world in which you live and to concentrate for long periods of time.

Spanish
The main focus of the program is to develop the student’s language proficiency and the literary, cultural, practical application, and translation competencies demanded by many professional fields. To accomplish these goals, the Spanish curriculum includes courses in general Spanish Language, Spanish for the Professions, Hispanic Linguistics, Spanish and Spanish-American Literature and Civilizations, and Translation.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you will demonstrate advanced proficiency in Spanish through performance on examinations, in-class presentations, and research papers. You will also demonstrate the ability to understand, analyze, and interpret the cultural, linguistic and literary aspects of the Spanish-speaking countries through in-class presentations, examinations, and research papers. With this degree, you will be prepared to teach Spanish and/or continue their studies at the graduate level.

Economics
The economics major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the theory and applications of economics in preparation for their chosen profession.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of economics. You’ll be able to demonstrate an understanding of contemporary economic theories and policy considerations in a domestic and international context. In addition, demonstrate the ability to identify relevant (valid, reliable, and important) information to the issue being studied.

The Master's Program in Educational Administration is a leader in preparing PreK-20 school administrators throughout South Texas, nationwide, and internationally. This learner–centered program prepares graduates to meet the challenges of school leadership positions such as campus principal, campus assistant principal, and central office administration.

This program offers the master of science degree in Educational Administration and preparation for the Texas State certification exams for the principalship and superintendency.

The mission of the Master’s Program in Educational Administration is to prepare leaders for PK-20 administration at the regional, national, and international levels. This learner-centered program prepares graduates to meet the current demanding challenges of school leadership positions, including teacher leaders, department heads, campus assistant principal, campus principal, and central office administration.

English majors will choose an emphasis in literary studies or writing studies. The literary studies emphasis provides students with the skills to interpret and write about texts, including literary and filmic, within a range of historical and cultural contexts.

The writing studies emphasis allows students to develop their abilities to use writing in a variety of contexts and for a variety of purposes, and to develop an understanding of how writing operates in the world, through studies in rhetoric, literacy, and writing.

Both tracks give students skills as critical thinkers and communicators that will prepare them for a variety of different career paths, including law, business, teaching, and the sciences, as well as for graduate study.

Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Sciences Program offers a degree that prepares students for professional careers related to human or animal health and safety. This program is a unique blend of course work and experiences that gives students a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences.

Within this program, you’ll gain a broad conceptual framework while allowing them to focus on applied biomedical sciences, including Forensic Science.

The Master's in Special Education prepares educators for initial teaching certification and/or educational diagnostician certification. Members of this program gain advanced expertise in culturally and linguistically responsive special education services to students with both high-incidence and low-incidence disabilities. Theory and pedagogy from English learner education and special education are combined.

This program is to provide students with an eclectic program in special education that interfaces theory and pedagogy from both the special education and English learner education fields.

This program has two main objectives: to provide an advanced understanding of the criminal justice system and its components and to provide either a concentration of knowledge and application of skills in a specialized subfield of study or a broad exploration of the discipline based on individual student needs through the selection of disciplinary electives.

The criminal justice program leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and supports the Bachelor of Applied Science Degree with courses applicable to criminal justice, community and mental health, and legal studies tracks.
