The MIS program supports students and professionals in their applied use of computers. Information systems supports a variety of business activities using computer systems; it is not intended to prepare software developers.

MIS (Management information systems) is a perfect career for a student who loves doing business and at the same time enjoys working with computers and technologies. MIS is a people-oriented field with an emphasis on meeting business needs through technology. This major explores how students can use computing technologies to create business solutions and focuses on the best way to enable the organization to meet its goals and business challenges. MIS students learn about business processes and analyze how to improve the processes using technology.

This program of study provides a broad-based business background for those persons who are interested in a business career but do not wish to specialize in a specific functional area.

The general business curriculum includes a study of various business disciplines that provides a broader competency base for those who may want to work in or to manage small businesses or selected not-for-profit organizations. This major provides a background for entry-level work in a broad range of businesses. An on campus format provides a mix of online, face-to-face, and blended courses. An online completion format provides 60 hours of online courses.

The atmospheric science faculty seeks to provide a high quality educational experience for students majoring in atmospheric science in preparation for industrial or government positions, and for graduate study. The program is also designed for those planning to teach environmental science or physics at the 8-12 level, or who need atmospheric science knowledge and skills relevant to future studies in the sciences.

The student who wishes to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Atmospheric Science may do so by following one of the two curriculum plans referred to as concentrations:

• Weather Broadcasting

The Bachelor of Science program in Atmospheric Sciences addresses the needs of students interested in studying meteorology or climate science. The program provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the physical characteristics, motions and processes of air; as well as the interactions of this protective layer with the underlying oceans and continents. The undergraduate program emphasizes a systems approach, combining traditional atmospheric sciences with emerging fields. In particular, the program focuses on the fields of tropical meteorology and oceanography that are directly linked to the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal regions where the university is strategically located.

Psychology
Psychology students at TAMUCC receive an excellent and intellectually exciting education in psychology as a science. Our faculty members represent many of the varied fields of contemporary psychology, including developmental psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology, personality psychology, and clinical psychology.

Our undergraduate Bachelor of Arts program is designed to provide the psychology major with a broadly-based education in the discipline. For those who are interested, opportunities exist within the department to conduct research under the supervision of our faculty.

Within this program, you will use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes. You will understand and apply research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation. The Theatre and Dance Program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is a unique program offering courses specifically tailored for students pursuing careers in professional theatre and film, as well as those seeking Texas Teacher Certification in Theatre Arts. We are extremely devoted to preparing you for the challenges of creating theatre in the 21st Century.

The mission of our program is to provide students with the tools needed for preparation as theatre educators or professional practitioners, or for the continuation of their studies on the graduate level.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll gain a broad understanding of theatre. You’ll also understand acting, directing, and design tech.

Communication
This is a dynamic department with students studying human relationships, analyzing film and television, creating films, practicing public relations, writing for the student newspaper, and instructing others in communication.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll be able to gather, evaluate and synthesize information to build and defend arguments. You’ll also demonstrate communication competence in dyadic, small group and presentational contexts. As part of this degree, you’ll employ discipline-specific knowledge in applied communication situations.

The accounting major is designed to provide entry-level knowledge, skills, and concepts for careers in accounting.

Accounting careers are generally divided into four broad areas, corresponding to particular employment environments: management accounting, government accounting, accounting education, and public accounting.

Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineers develop electrical systems using knowledge of physics, mathematics, circuit design, electromagnetic theory, communication theory, control systems and signal processing. Electrical engineering historically involved how the generation, transmission and utilization of electrical energy.

What Will I Learn
Within this program, you’ll design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data along with designing a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. You’ll also identify, formulate, solve engineering problems, and understand professional and ethical responsibility with an ability to communicate effectively. As part of this degree, you’ll be able to analyze and design complex electrical and electronic devices, software and systems containing hardware and software components.
