The International Pathway Program (IPP) is your route to a degree from the highly ranked University of Hartford. With our program, you will develop the skills to progress to the undergraduate degree of your choice – and graduate on time. We provide you with the best possible start to your degree program, ensuring that you go on to find academic, social and personal success as a college student in the US.

The IPP is open to students who have proven their academic ability but need to strengthen their English skills to achieve positive results in the collegiate environment. You will learn about the subjects you love, while being able to dedicate time to developing your English. 

Communication
In the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program you create advertising, public relations, and social media campaigns for real clients, all while learning how to effectively communicate with different target audiences.

Viola

You will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Through personal attention and mentorship from Hartt’s accomplished faculty members, you will develop innovative ideas and career ready skills.

Music Management
When you decide to major in music management, you have the desire to pursue a strong musical and business course of study.  Playing a musical instrument or being a vocalist is required for entrance to the program. This can include classical instruments or classical voice, jazz instruments or voice, or commercial instruments (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, or voice.)  

You will receive training in music theory, piano and keyboard, and music history, as well as weekly one hour lessons and coaching sessions with teachers in the performance area.  This combined with arts management and business courses give you the career ready skills to enter the industry.

Not only will you participate in music management events, but you also have the opportunity to participate in many of the large ensembles that make up Hartt’s music training program.

International Studies

At UHart, the world can be your classroom! Seventy-five percent of our international studies student study abroad for a semester, a year, or during our Winterterm or Summerterm.

You can concentrate in either global security or global development, and consider a double major in politics and government, economics, or modern languages and cultures.

If you are interested in a careers in government, business, education, the nonprofit sector, or certain areas of law, the international studies program gives you a solid foundation. It also is appropriate to prepare for graduate studies in a variety of fields.

Printmaking
You will learn the basics of the major techniques and must achieve mastery in lithography and etching. Black-and-white and color processes are taught in all media within the program. You are also encouraged to pursue other areas of the printmaking curriculum, such as relief, monotype, letterpress printing, and book arts. The work will lead to your senior exhibition and help prepare you for graduate school or a career in printmaking and the arts.

Lectures, demonstrations, and workshops with well-known visiting artists and master printers further enhance the curriculum, including the annual Hartford Print Workshop. This workshop brings in artists who work with students and master printers to create editioned prints in the HAS printmaking studios.

Health Sciences - Pre-Professional

The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. You can pursue the degree on a full- or part-time basis, and you can enter the program as a freshman or a transfer student.The pre-professional track of the health sciences program prepares you for professional graduate study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, or pharmacy. The program combines a strong science foundation with a variety of electives that allow you to explore different health-related topics. If you’re interested in a career in health care but aren’t sure which area to pursue, the Health Sciences program may be a good fit for you. Health Sciences is also available as a minor.

Our health sciences program grounds you in the liberal arts with a firm foundation in the sciences, while providing a broad overview of the health care system. By majoring in health sciences, you can prepare for future study in a wide range of health care careers.

Although this is a non-clinical program, it will prepare you for graduate programs in fields such as medicine, dentistry, physician assistant, optometry, chiropractic, pharmacy, or podiatry.

Architectural Design AndTechnology
The Architectural Design + Technology (AD+T) program is a rigorous academic program that prepares you for a variety of careers in architecture and the construction industry. The focus of the program is the design studio in which the technical, structural, and liberal arts courses are integrated through the creative process in the design of progressively more complex architectural projects. A strong component of liberal arts, with particular emphasis on communications skills, as well as multiple electives in the later years, ensures that students who pursue this program will have a challenging architectural education that prepares you for your career path. You will gain a broad understanding of the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into architecture firms or the building industries or to pursue advanced degrees in architecture and related disciplines.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science gives you a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied computer science.  Your first year, get a solid foundation of mathematics and the fundamentals of computing. Then you build upon that knowledge with more in-depth courses.
