Instrumental Performance - French Horn
Through weekly privates lessons, and weekly studio classes, you will focus on small ensemble and solo playing. At Hartt, you will receive comprehensive musical training while developing innovative ideas and career ready skills while gaining exposure to nationally and internationally recognized musicians (recent guest artists include Gene Pokorney of CSO, Julie Landsman of The Met, Ray Mase of ABQ.)

Visual Communication Design
The visual communication design (VCD) program encompasses all visual languages used to communicate, therefore your coursework aims strengthen your skills as a designer. Classes on design theory, methods, and history align with practical work with real clients by the time you reach your senior year.

Designers in this program are able to think critically about how to tell a story using design elements rather than words. You must be able to think not only about how your work looks, but also about how other people will interact with it.

Mathematics Secondary Education

If you love math and want to teach, you can work in a classroom your very first semester. We have two magnet schools located on campus, so you can hone your teaching skills at both the elementary and secondary levels. These experiences will lead to:

English Secondary Education

The curriculum features a combination of English courses and education courses in a structured program that includes practice teaching.

In your English classes, work with award-winning published authors and poets who share your passion for teaching. In your education classes, acquire the qualities and expertise that make a great teacher such as:

The education curriculum gives you a theoretical base according to the state requirements, and a practical application of carefully considered educational principles. In addition, you receive a solid grounding in the essentials of the subject matter that you will go on to teach.

Violin
You will join a tight-knit community of artists who are perfecting their craft. Through personal attention and mentorship from Hartt’s accomplished faculty members, you will develop innovative ideas and career ready skills. Learn about studying violin at Hartt, including undergraduate and graduate admission and audition requirements and faculty information.

Music Management
When you decide to major in music management, you have the desire to pursue a strong musical and business course of study.  Playing a musical instrument or being a vocalist is required for entrance to the program. This can include classical instruments or classical voice, jazz instruments or voice, or commercial instruments (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard, or voice.)  

You will receive training in music theory, piano and keyboard, and music history, as well as weekly one hour lessons and coaching sessions with teachers in the performance area.  This combined with arts management and business courses give you the career ready skills to enter the industry.

Not only will you participate in music management events, but you also have the opportunity to participate in many of the large ensembles that make up Hartt’s music training program.
