You won’t find this kind of program at any other liberal arts colleges — or at many far larger colleges either. We offer one of the only publishing majors in the nation.

Publishing is all about connecting. Writers and readers. Art and business. Traditional and new technologies. Gain the knowledge and skills to navigate these interconnections, and reflect on the:

Our publishing and editing program is big enough that you’ll have access to a high-tech, dedicated lab and eight department student publications, and small enough that you’ll get hands-on, personalized attention from faculty. Our students have even helped produce a professional publication, which saw two pieces nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Master the Spanish language and immerse yourself in the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

We’re one of the only universities that requires semester-long study abroad for language majors. Connect with native Spanish speakers in Valencia, Spain; Heredia, Costa Rica; Merida, Mexico; or Havana, Cuba — to name a few.

While abroad, you’ll live with host families, do internships in fields such as health and grant-writing, and take courses in a broad array of disciplines. You will also travel and make new, long-lasting friendships.

When you return to Susquehanna, you’ll bring back firsthand knowledge of the cultures you’ve experienced and a grasp of the Spanish language only achieved through immersion!

• Connect with Spanish-speakers on campus! Take courses on the literatures, cultures and histories of Spanish-speaking communities around the world. Study Spanish translation, and get involved with activities outside of the classroom.
• Come to our Latinx Initiative, which promotes the understanding of Latino cultures through exhibits, film, presentations, workshops and speakers.
• Join in conversation tables with Fulbright Fellows from Spain and Latin America.
• Share your interests with a growing number of Susquehanna students interested in Latinx cultures and heritage by joining ALAS (Association of Latinx and American Students).

Piece together visual clues in images, buildings and objects to shed light on the human experience past and present with faculty dedicated to your intellectual development.

You’ll debate art theory and criticism, while developing keen skills in visual analysis — an invaluable tool in our increasingly image-driven world.

Travel to major museums in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City, or visit our own Lore Degenstein Gallery to carefully study works of art from various times and places.

Popular classes embrace the interdisciplinary nature of art history, examining art through the lenses of diversity, gender and politics. Art history also pairs well with a major or minor in anything from anthropology to communications to foreign language.

Luxury brands are unique — and so is our luxury brand marketing and management major, the only bachelor’s degree program in the U.S.

Through our strong alumni connections, you’ll be able to land first-rate internships at prestigious brands like Lamborghini, Tesla, Coach and Tiffany. Journey to luxury brand capitals like London, Rome, Paris and Milan through our award-winning GO program.

Consumers of luxury brands are purchasing more than a product — they’re buying a symbol of success or a lifestyle that includes purchasing art, automobiles, beauty products, fashion and accessories, jewelry, real estate, travel, well-being and wine and spirits. This growing industry depends on brand managers and marketers who can help sell their lavish image. We’ll prepare you to step confidently into the high-end job market, knowing the marketing needs and consumer relationship management that’s vital to keeping premium and luxury brands on top in a fiercely competitive market.

Since you’ll take traditional marketing classes as well, you’ll also be ready to work at a mass consumer brand — or even help them take the big leap into luxury sectors.

Our bold curriculum is rooted in the liberal arts, so you’ll excel at essential skills like writing, teamwork, presentations, critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and leadership.

Get hands-on experience in a wide range of production and design disciplines to refine your interests, hone your skills, and prepare you for a lifetime of creativity in theatre.

Our hands-on production labs are small and focused on your development. And our productions rival any conservancy program in scope and quality.

Our students often begin performing on the main stage in their first semester.

• There are four mainstage productions each year, including a student-directed show and a major musical
• You’ll collaborate with the Department of Music on their annual opera program
• We offer a second stage season-experimental, edgy and fueled by students’ artistic desires

Whether you see yourself doing research, teaching, practicing medicine or working in law enforcement, a chemistry degree prepares you for a fulfilling career. You’ll be ready to step right into a job or a graduate program with experience on a research internship or presenting research at national conferences.

About half of our graduates pursue graduate studies in organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. A chemistry major sets you apart on dental and medical school applications — they know you can easily master challenging material. Our interdisciplinary minors help you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

When The Princeton Review recently recognized Susquehanna University as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduates, surveyed Susquehanna students pointed to a variety of academic offerings that make Susquehanna stand out, including the university’s “top-notch” creative writing program.

Since one in 12 students at Susquehanna is a creative writing major, we have dedicated creative writing housing, poetry slams, seven student-run publications and frequent late-night literary gatherings.

From Day One, your work will be critiqued by professional, published authors — who are also your professors — and you’ll have plenty of chances to interact one-on-one with them.

Advertising and public relations are vital functions in dynamic companies. Different than marketers, advertising and public relations professionals take a creative look at strategic communications, blending research and art to craft all messages for a company.

You will learn to take your natural creativity and analytical thinking and combine them to create comprehensive and connected brands and communications strategies. Plus, you can choose a minor, like international studies or leadership, to give you a broad perspective of what it takes to be a creative leader.

As an anthropology major, you’ll learn to understand the remarkably different ways we express our humanity.

You’ll examine how culture affects the way we experience the world — how we make choices, how we’re alike and different, and why we act and interact the way we do.

In an increasingly interconnected world, being able to examine, analyze and think critically about culture is highly valued by employers in the business sector, education and beyond.

In our program, you’ll study politics, government and public policy in the U.S. and abroad and why nations do — or do not — get along.

You’ll acquire the tools to question, analyze systems and institutions, and develop your own views about the best policies, programs and organizational rules for the world you envision.

Debates, simulations, trips to important political sites and engaged classroom conversation will encourage you to think more deeply about political issues of the day.

Prepare for a variety of careers

A political science degree gives you skills to follow many paths.

Some of our majors continue their political interests through public service. Recent graduates work for the New York City Office of Management and Budget, Maine House of Representatives, Boston City Council campaign, PA House of Representatives, PA Senate, PA Governor’s Office, New Jersey Assembly and the Snyder County PA Commissioner.

Others work for non-profit corporations in education, human services and health care as lobbyists, data analysts, professors, grant writers and more. Graduates also pursue jobs in insurance, finance, publishing and human resources.

Our students are also ready to attend law school or pursue graduate degrees in public policy, public administration or doctorates in political science.
