As an anthropology major, you’ll learn to understand the remarkably different ways we express our humanity.

You’ll examine how culture affects the way we experience the world — how we make choices, how we’re alike and different, and why we act and interact the way we do.

In an increasingly interconnected world, being able to examine, analyze and think critically about culture is highly valued by employers in the business sector, education and beyond.

Whether you see yourself doing research, teaching, practicing medicine or working in law enforcement, a chemistry degree prepares you for a fulfilling career. You’ll be ready to step right into a job or a graduate program with experience on a research internship or presenting research at national conferences.

About half of our graduates pursue graduate studies in organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. A chemistry major sets you apart on dental and medical school applications — they know you can easily master challenging material. Our interdisciplinary minors help you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.

Explore society at every level — small groups, subcultures, cultures, organizations and institutions — and study how people interact.

When you study sociology here, you’ll learn to think critically about how race, class, gender, sexuality, law, culture, social media, social movements and the state impact individual, lived experience.

Travel to major museums in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City, or visit our own Lore Degenstein Gallery to carefully study works of art from various times and places.

Popular classes embrace the interdisciplinary nature of art history, examining art through the lenses of diversity, gender and politics. Art history also pairs well with a major or minor in anything from anthropology to communications to foreign language.

Our economics department consistently ranks as one of the top liberal arts economics departments for research by the Federal Reserve.

The research training you receive here will show prospective employers in any field that you know how to solve problems. Using cutting-edge approaches, you’ll conduct both extensive examinations of policy-related problems and quick analyses to get the gist of an issue.

You’ll complete at least one major research project and have the chance to present your research at conferences on campus and on the national stage.

Master the Spanish language and immerse yourself in the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

We’re one of the only universities that requires semester-long study abroad for language majors. Connect with native Spanish speakers in Valencia, Spain; Heredia, Costa Rica; Merida, Mexico; or Havana, Cuba — to name a few.

While abroad, you’ll live with host families, do internships in fields such as health and grant-writing, and take courses in a broad array of disciplines. You will also travel and make new, long-lasting friendships.

When you return to Susquehanna, you’ll bring back firsthand knowledge of the cultures you’ve experienced and a grasp of the Spanish language only achieved through immersion!

• Connect with Spanish-speakers on campus! Take courses on the literatures, cultures and histories of Spanish-speaking communities around the world. Study Spanish translation, and get involved with activities outside of the classroom.
• Come to our Latinx Initiative, which promotes the understanding of Latino cultures through exhibits, film, presentations, workshops and speakers.
• Join in conversation tables with Fulbright Fellows from Spain and Latin America.
• Share your interests with a growing number of Susquehanna students interested in Latinx cultures and heritage by joining ALAS (Association of Latinx and American Students).
