The anthropology major is a part of the Troy University Social Science Department. The program offers a wide variety of courses in cultural anthropology and archaeology. If a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, clinical exercise testing and prescription, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, health-fitness/wellness, strength and conditioning or nutrition is in your future, a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science is a perfect fit. This competitive program includes concentrations in pre-health professions, health and wellness and nutrition, and incorporates coursework from five academic departments spread across two colleges.

With an emphasis on preparation for entry into graduate health profession schools in the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant, you will be prepared to successfully enter into graduate health profession schools nationwide. Upon completion of the program, you will also be prepared to sit for certification examinations offered through the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and other organizations in the related fields of health and fitness, clinical exercise testing and strength and conditioning. In today’s society, the number of people with disabilities continues to grow. Because of this, there is a growing demand for rehabilitation professionals and other workers who provide services to people with disabilities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, physical therapists are among the fastest growing occupations in the nation with more than a 22 percent growth rate projected from 2018-2028.

That growth isn’t only felt in the physical therapy field—other rehabilitation-related occupations are expected to grow rapidly, as well. The BLS projects there will be a 22 percent growth rate among professions such as mental health counseling, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and substance abuse counseling.
