This program offers students the tools and direction to enter the professional Theatre industry, graduate study in Theatre, or work in a related field. Sociology is the scientific study of human relationships and interaction. The biology program found within TROY’s College of Arts and Sciences stands at the core of the University’s biological and environmental sciences department. This program is one of the University’s most popular science-related majors with more students enrolled than any of the department’s other concentrations, programs or majors. This program’s popularity is attributed to the versatility of the program and the wide array of departmental courses offered to students. This program offers a wide variety of academic options to choose from to help you meet the diverse academic requirements of many professional schools, graduate schools and employment in the public and private sectors should you decide to pursue graduate- and doctoral-level degrees.

A bachelor’s degree in chemistry opens many avenues and provides many career options. Nationwide, about 60 percent of graduates enter the workforce in industries such as chemical, food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Others enter graduate school to get a Ph.D. in chemistry or work in higher education and scientific research and development. Still, others enter a medical profession such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine and chiropractic. Chemistry majors can also find jobs teaching high school chemistry. Chemistry majors are respected for their ability to analyze and solve problems. This ability makes chemistry majors desirable in sales and management positions, as well.

The Biology/Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for careers in the health professions and biotechnology. It is an integral part of the pre-professional program. Students who receive a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Biomedical Sciences are well prepared to enter graduate or professional school, begin careers as laboratory technicians or seek employment in the biotechnology industry. 

Students complete a wide variety of courses aimed at providing a thorough understanding of the development, structure, and organization of the cell and are exposed to a wide variety of modern approaches to analyze genetic, molecular, and cellular events.

Specialized courses in Microbial Ecology Applied Genetics, Biochemistry, and Immunology complement the offerings in Biomedical Sciences. The inclusion of lab-based investigations in these courses serves to enhance the students' exposure to state of the art approaches to solving complex problems in biological systems.

Students who choose the Biology/Biomedical Sciences program will have many opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Many research opportunities are available for students to conduct research with faculty mentors using current technology and equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to join the Department's three student organizations, including: Beta Beta Beta (National Biological Honor Society), The Environmental Club, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (Health Professions Honor Society).

Preparing you for a career you’ll love
TROY’s hospitality management program provides you with courses designed to give you an overview of the industry as well as hands-on learning opportunities. For example, in TROY’s hotel management course, you’ll shadow different areas of local hotels to experience what happens within different departments, and in your restaurant management course, you’ll work in groups to create a restaurant concept that looks at everything from layout and décor to menu design and menu development.

Your course work will also prepare you to work with diverse groups, strengthen your written and oral communication skills as well as your organizational and leadership skills.
