That’s why our program is focused on preparing you for a career that requires significant exposure to — and a firm grasp of — these sub-disciplines:

AI/Analytics concentration (STEM-certified): Develop a competency for data analysis and the tools used in auditing, predictive modeling, forensic accounting, and business operations analytics, equipping you with the skills need to succeed in a cutting-edge field in the modern American marketplace.

Corporate concentration: Refine your accounting skills for a career in either a publicly held or private company. Learn about financial, managerial, taxation and International accounting and taxation standards and procedures and how to apply them to various entities.

Forensic concentration:  Learn about investigative accounting, valuation theory and practice, fraud examination, building the skills you need to work in the growing field of forensic accounting

Taxation concentration: Build the skills you need to advise clients regarding the tax law. This track concentrates on federal income taxation as it relates to corporations, partnerships,  and limited liability companies.

The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

The Nonprofit Management concentration provides students with vital knowledge and skills in Nonprofit Management, from traditional aspects such as fund raising and community service, to the latest trends such as social entrepreneurship

The International Business - Marketing degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of marketing while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes

• Students will be competent in understanding institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - marketing are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).   Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

One of only a small number of such programs in the United States, our master’s program in fire and explosion investigation offers 39 credits* of interdisciplinary coursework in fire/arson investigation, emergency management, public safety, and more. Students in the program study alongside leading professionals in the fire service including current and former fire and police chiefs, homeland security executives, private investigators, and insurance agents. Successful alumni have moved on to leadership positions in local fire departments, state and federal emergency agencies, and private firms.

Students take required courses in topics such as the chemistry of fires, dynamics of structural fires, and arson analysis. Candidates will also chose from a series of electives that explores issues, including fire and building codes, fire scene reconstruction, terrorism, and industrial fire protection.

Not all of the bad guys are out roaming the streets. Many of them work indoors, plying their “trade” in cyber crime and a host of devastatingly destructive financial crimes. Want to help fend off their attacks? Go on offense with our B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Criminal Justice — and prepare to manage the security forces, cybersecurity professionals and other experts who stay one-step ahead of fraudsters and other white-collar criminals. In addition to core classes in health sciences, our unique concentrations enable you to follow an additional path of study and specialize in in-demand health care fields.

Occupational Therapy: Learn to work in conjunction with other health professionals to help clients develop skills and interact with adapted environments to perform daily activities and meet personal goals.

Speech-Language Pathology: Learn to assess, diagnose, treat, and help prevent communication disorders involving articulation, language development, voice, swallowing, and more.

The structure of our society – roads, bridges, tunnels, railroads, dams, and airports – all depend on the skill of civil engineers. To a large extent, so does the health, safety, and welfare of the individuals in that society. In fact, civil engineers have saved more lives, through clean water and sanitation systems, than all of the doctors in history.

In the University of New Haven’s B.S. in civil engineering program, students participate in a multi-disciplinary curriculum that combines mathematics, science, communication, humanities, and social science with a broad base of civil engineering technologies.

Designed for both new graduates and those already employed in the public sector seeking advancement, the MPA program in the Department of Public Management provides students with the opportunity to increase knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in budgeting, planning, public policy formulation, public finance, public personnel administration, and collective bargaining. The interdisciplinary program offers twelve courses — nine required courses and three elective or concentration courses. You may also elect to take courses in management, criminal justice, fire science, psychology, economics, and more.

The MPA program is designed to provide exceptional flexibility for our students:

• Classes in the regular, main campus schedule meet on weeknights to accommodate working students. The regular graduate schedule follows a fifteen-week semester format. Online and weekend classes are available.
• Students can choose from six concentrations: fire and emergency medical services, municipal management, nonprofit management, public financial management, public safety, and general.

Students majoring in Business management have the option of pursuing the concentration in Human Resource Management. Human Resource (HR) positions are in demand.

The goal of the Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resource management (HRM) is to prepare students to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities in the main areas of the field of HRM such as workforce planning and talent management, training and developing, leading performance management, motivating and rewarding employees, dealing with labor relations, and creating a safe environment where human resources can thrive and contribute to the growth of their organization. Besides the specialized set of competencies that student will acquire in HRM, they will also be able to develop a solid background in the areas of business management and liberal arts. Graduates of this program will have the ability to assume entry-level management and HR specialist positions in a variety of private, public, and non-profit organizations.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Business Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).  The major allows the flexibility to minor in a wide array of related areas such as entrepreneurship or marketing.
