The Communication program at the University of New Haven are designed to give you the specialized skills you need to creatively and successfully adapt to the continuing evolution of both interpersonal and mass communication.

• Our Bachelor of Arts in Communication will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how to frame and deliver the message through interpersonal communication, organizational communication, public relations, advertising, mass communication, journalism, radio, television, and film.

Want to help fend off their attacks? Go on offense with our B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in Criminal Justice — and prepare to manage the security forces, cybersecurity professionals and other experts who stay one-step ahead of fraudsters and other white-collar criminals. You’ll have the skills and knowledge needed to direct such operations through a program that provides a powerful combination of human resource and financial management expertise, marketing and business strategy, and the critical competencies inherent in a criminal justice concentration. The B.S. in Health Sciences combines basic scientific knowledge, healthcare industry specific knowledge, and practical skills for students to be competitive in the 21st century healthcare workforce. The program addresses both the administrative and technical aspects of healthcare as well as the professional, social, ethical, and political elements.  Courses provide broad technical skills as well as the organizational competencies needed for entry level positions in a wide range of healthcare organizations and companies, as well as preparation for graduate study in clinical professions.  In particular, this program aims to provide a broad, interdisciplinary training for students interested in clinical and non-clinical health fields including but not limited to medicine, population health, clinical research administration, and healthcare administration.  The B.S. in Health Sciences also offers two optional concentrations: Speech-Language Pathology and Occupational Therapy.  Each of these concentrations focuses on a specific healthcare profession and is designed to prepare students for graduate school in an area of specialization.

The University’s full-time MBA program, which is one of only two in Connecticut – and less than 30 across the U.S. – that offer concentrations that are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) certified by the federal government, enables you to both master new skills through rigorous coursework and build a portfolio of experience through internships and real-world learning opportunities that will prepare you to excel.

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

Music thrives as a performance and cultural practice in the U.S. and abroad. The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a dynamic program for the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum. The B.A. program is distinctive in its treatment of music as a worldwide performance and cultural phenomenon, offering students the opportunity to define their degree track with courses and performance ensembles that meet and enhance their interests in music. The program is flexible, allowing students to focus on performance or musicology.

The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

Students who concentrate in Municipal Management focus on the administration, management, and advancement of local or regional governmental units

Math is everywhere, from the spiral of a shell to the timing of a symphony, and it is integral to everything around us. As a mathematics major at the University of New Haven, you’ll apply math’s universal language to your area of interest, while sharpening your ability to reason and problem solve.

Through the B.S. program, you will:

The Absolute Value of the 2022 Mathematics Research Community

The American Mathematics Society (AMS) has accepted a proposal by faculty members — including the University of New Haven’s Daniel Cicala — for a Mathematics Research Community on Applied Category Theory to be held in the summer of 2022. The faculty will lead 40 early-career mathematicians through an intensive week of research on that topic. The AMS Mathematics Research Communities is a professional development program for mathematicians who are just starting out. The program helps them develop collaborative research skills and build a network centered around an active research domain. Mentoring from leaders in the specific topic area and valuable career guidance are also part of the equation.

The B.S. degree in business analytics prepares students for careers that use data to support and inform business decision-making and management. Students learn skills in a natural progression including assembling and managing data, displaying data, uncovering patterns in data, developing predictive models, and using these models to make better decisions across all business domains. Business analytics skills are in demand across a wide range of industries including healthcare, sports, marketing, finance, consulting, supply-chain operations, and information technology. Students are encouraged to develop expertise in a functional business discipline such as supply-chain management, health care management, marketing or finance using elective coursework.

The martketing analytics concentration teaches students to combine their quantitative analytical skills with marketing knowledge in order to make informed and accurate decisions in a data driven climate.

Human Resource Management

The concentration develops the strategic approach to effective management of an organization’s workforce.

The Hotel and Resort Management Concentration focuses on training students to fulfill management-level careers in hotel and resort industries. After gaining functional business competencies, students specialize in areas that are critical to success in a range of leadership and managerial positions within hotels, restaurants, spas, resorts, clubs, and theme parks. Students in this concentration are exposed to several experiential learning and industry collaboration opportunities.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a concentration in Hotel and Resort Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the University core curriculum (41 credits), Hospitality and Tourism Management major requirements (36 credits), Hotel and Resort Management concentration (12 credits), Writing Across the Curriculum elective (3 credits), fieldwork (2 credits), service requirement (1 credit), internship (3 credits) and free electives (23 credits).
