In addition to core classes in health sciences, our unique concentrations enable you to follow an additional path of study and specialize in in-demand health care fields.

Occupational Therapy: Learn to work in conjunction with other health professionals to help clients develop skills and interact with adapted environments to perform daily activities and meet personal goals.

Speech-Language Pathology: Learn to assess, diagnose, treat, and help prevent communication disorders involving articulation, language development, voice, swallowing, and more.

The International Business - Accounting degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of accounting while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate understanding of financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, taxation, and auditing concepts needed by entry level accounting staffs.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - accounting are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).    Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below

Chemistry is considered the "central science" because it connects the physical sciences with the life sciences and applied sciences. Our lives revolve around it. Chemistry is involved in everything we do, from growing and cooking food to cleaning our homes and bodies to launching a space shuttle.

As a chemistry major at the University of New Haven, you’ll study this powerful science in depth. The program is uniquely flexible, allowing you to concentrate, minor, or double major in related fields. You’ll create your own path — and be closely guided by our expert faculty along the way.

You will also:

• Gain hands-on experience that most colleges delay until graduate school

• Be prepared for a career in a variety of fields, such as forensics, business, biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, or education

Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credits of graduate work, which may include an internship in national security. Transfer credit from other institutions may be permitted subject to the Graduate School policy on transfer credit detailed elsewhere in this catalog.

Students in the program are required to complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of general electives.  Students must complete a capstone requirement of either NSPS 6693 - National Security Internship I or NSPS 6697 Thesis I and  NSPS 6698 Thesis II. If the six credit thesis option is selected, NSPS 6698  Thesis II will count toward electives.

The University of New Haven offers one of the oldest graduate programs in community psychology in the country. For more than 40 years, we have successfully prepared graduates for professional careers in mental health and related human services fields.

We provide a distinctive applied psychology education. We offer three program concentrations – community-clinical services, program development, or forensic psychology – that enable our students to tailor the curriculum to meet their individual needs and professional goals.

You’ll learn to apply different psychological and social sciences theories and approaches to understand and impact the complex forces that influence individual and community behavior and well-being.

The program allows students to simultaneously complete their degree, obtain practical experience, work full-time or part-time, and meet financial obligations. Full-time students can complete the program in two years, and classes are offered during evening hours to accommodate working students.

You’ll prepare for the future by:

• Learning and training to prevent and treat psychological problems, with an emphasis on interventions within social institutions, organizations and groups, as well as directly with individuals
• Focusing on community analysis, consultation, program development, administration and evaluation
• Gaining internship experience at a human service organization or in a community setting
• Learning to apply your knowledge to enhance and enrich individuals, families, groups, institutions and entire communities
• Developing knowledge in counseling, psychotherapy, group, and family treatment; personality assessment; case management and client advocacy; crisis intervention, primary and secondary prevention; organizational consultation, program planning and development, agency and program administration, networking and interagency collaboration; research and evaluation; community development and social change

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in public relations and digital media will build specialized knowledge and skills related to public relations across a variety of platforms and contexts in addition to acquiring a solid grounding in digital media production.  Through coursework emphasizing writing, campaigns, and persuasion, as well as laboratory and field experiences in digital media design and production along with internship opportunities, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded public relations professionals.

Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in public relations and digital media are required to complete a total of 121 credits as follows.

Program Outcomes

• Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate specific interpersonal and applied communication skills in human communication theory; convergent media production aesthetics, theory and technical areas; media writing and journalism.
• Students will have the ability to be effective team members in newsroom, news websites and public relations firms and offices. 
• Students will be able to complete increasingly complex aesthetic and skill -based projects in print and convergent journalism and strategic communication.
• Students can use industry based software and create real world applied solutions to increasingly complex real and case study problems.

As a forensic science major at the University of New Haven, you will learn to use science and technology to uncover evidence that can "testify" in court and impact criminal or civil cases.
