The University’s full-time MBA program, which is one of only two in Connecticut – and less than 30 across the U.S. – that offer concentrations that are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) certified by the federal government, enables you to both master new skills through rigorous coursework and build a portfolio of experience through internships and real-world learning opportunities that will prepare you to excel.

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

 Business Analytics

The concentration builds technical proficiency in the skills needed to implement and oversee data-driven business decisions, forming inferences and predictions from data, and making optimal and robust decisions. Applications of business analytics span all function areas.

Civil engineering positions account for the most jobs of any engineering field, and this job growth is predicted to continue. In Connecticut alone, job openings for civil and environmental engineers are expected to grow by 13.8 percent through 2022, which is higher than the aggregate rate of growth for all occupations in the state.

Federal funding for sustainable and "green" development has also led to an increase in environmentallyfriendly infrastructure projects, which has driven demand for civil and environmental engineers.

Fire protection engineering is a multidisciplinary program that combines principles from various areas of science and engineering. Our program teaches you how to apply these principles to the problem of fire protection by designing, constructing, and installing fire protection systems to prevent or minimize potential losses.

You’ll begin by laying a firm foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering, then move on to applying your knowledge through practical, hands-on laboratory experiences. As you progress through the program, you’ll also acquire the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are vital in this field.

Train in state-of-the-art fire labs

Get up-close-and-personal experience in some of the finest fire labs in the country:

• Main Laboratory. Here, you’ll learn the key components of fire pumps, water mains, sprinklers, hydrants, extinguishers, and appliances and how these devices work.
• Fire Investigation Laboratory. Gain hands-on experience investigating fires. The rooms in this lab are regularly re-burnt to change the fire so that you can keep adding to what you learn.
• Computer Laboratory. The computers here contain the same specialized software that the fire service uses. They are available to you so that you can become familiar with all of the software’s capabilities.
• Fire Dynamics Laboratory. Conduct experiments with burning metals and other materials here. See how certain materials ignite and how they burn as well as how they react with various extinguishing agents.
• Fire Detection/Alarm Laboratory. Updated in 2010 to the newly updated NFPA alarm codes, this lab gives you the chance to experiment and understand the details of how a code-compliant alarm system operates.
• Sprinkler Laboratory. Learn how to reset a sprinkler system, trip the valve, and flow water out of whichever head you want — sidewall, pendant, upright or deluge-type head — as well as gauge the floor coverage of each head.
• Fire and Security Demo Laboratory. This lab is a work in progress. When it is finished, you’ll be able to work with thermal dynamics and the explosive characteristics of gaseous products.

It’s a complicated balance, and it’s the job of an economist to guide informed decision making. Because of the magnitude of this work, salaries for economics graduates are among the highest of any discipline.

Music thrives as a performance and cultural practice in the U.S. and abroad. The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a dynamic program for the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum. The B.A. program is distinctive in its treatment of music as a worldwide performance and cultural phenomenon, offering students the opportunity to define their degree track with courses and performance ensembles that meet and enhance their interests in music. This program is designed to provide students the ability to explore and combine aspects of the theoretical foundations of national security, intelligence, international affairs/politics and develop competency across a broad range of methodologies supporting national security concepts. It will develop in students a working knowledge of the most prominent features of the global security construct with an emphasis on the United States’ national security enterprise and key global states, concerns, and concepts. The program will examine the components of national security as it ranges from security policy development process, operations, the legal authorities that support and constrain both of these, the politics and international affairs that drive the process and the intelligence that informs the decision-makers. The program will have an international focus and will encourage study abroad. Graduates of this program will be leading candidates for future employment or continued education.

Program Outcomes:

• Develop a working knowledge of the most prominent features of the global national security construct with an emphasis on the United States’ (U.S.) national security enterprise.
• Convey key security studies concepts, along with the language, logic and legal foundations of national security with an emphasis on the U.S. program and key individual actors within it.
• Apply, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods, knowledge of DIME-FIL approaches and Objective/Ends, Ways, Means, and Risks approaches to historical and current national security issues.
• Create, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods, a research design paper, a policy analysis brief, or a national security brief about the implementation of national security policy and practices.
• Conceptualize potential solutions to contemporary problems and anticipate future national security challenges and threats.

The University of New Haven offers one of the oldest graduate programs in community psychology in the country. For more than 40 years, we have successfully prepared graduates for professional careers in mental health and related human services fields.

We provide a distinctive applied psychology education. We offer three program concentrations – community-clinical services, program development, or forensic psychology – that enable our students to tailor the curriculum to meet their individual needs and professional goals.

You’ll learn to apply different psychological and social sciences theories and approaches to understand and impact the complex forces that influence individual and community behavior and well-being.
