The Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences program provides a curriculum and supervised experiences that are designed to fulfill required competencies established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics under the Future Education Model (FEM) accreditation. Successful completion of the program results in a Verification Statement from the Program Director authorizing eligibility to sit for the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Successful passage of this exam confers the title Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

The University of New Haven’s B.S. in Business Analytics will provide you with the training to be this indispensable individual. Through the program, you will gain organizational and technical competencies in data science, learning to interpret data-asset data asset analysis for business applications and acquiring the skills to guide organizational decision-making. We will train you in a wide range of data analytics methods, while also giving you specialization opportunities in sport management, marketing analytics, or operations/supply chain strategy.

Our business analytics major is STEM-certified (science, technology, engineering, and math) by the federal government and includes concentrations in:

Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credits of graduate work, which may include an internship in national security. Transfer credit from other institutions may be permitted subject to the Graduate School policy on transfer credit detailed elsewhere in this catalog.

Students in the program are required to complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of general electives.  Students must complete a capstone requirement of either NSPS 6693 - National Security Internship I or NSPS 6697 Thesis I and  NSPS 6698 Thesis II. If the six credit thesis option is selected, NSPS 6698  Thesis II will count toward electives.

The International Business - Marketing degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of marketing while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

The general purpose of this concentration is to prepare men and women at the graduate level to lead fire and emergency medical service organizations. The program strives to equip students with modern analytic and quantitative tools of decision making and their application to complex problems of government and non-profit organizations. The program will increase the student’s knowledge and skills in the particular management functions of budgeting, planning, public policy formulation, public finance, public personnel administration, and collective bargaining.

The University of New Haven offers one of the oldest graduate programs in community psychology in the country. For more than 40 years, we have successfully prepared graduates for professional careers in mental health and related human services fields.

We provide a distinctive applied psychology education. We offer three program concentrations – community-clinical services, program development, or forensic psychology – that enable our students to tailor the curriculum to meet their individual needs and professional goals.

Electrical engineering is concerned with the analysis, design, development, and operation of electrical and electronic systems. Examples of these systems include communication, fiber optics, data processing, power generation, and distribution, control, and instrumentation. Digital circuits and computers are important and integral parts of such systems and are widely used by electrical engineers in their design and development. The electrical engineer is also concerned with the devices that make up systems such as transistors, integrated circuits, rotating machines, antennas, lasers, and computer-memory devices.

Recognizing the changing trend in engineering education, the Electrical Engineering program has adopted a multidisciplinary approach for teaching and learning by incorporating a series of newly developed project-oriented courses based on the spiral curriculum.

The early part of the program emphasizes electrical engineering skills that form the background for the upper-level elective and design courses. Physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer programming, basic engineering science, and general education courses supplement the required and elective electrical engineering courses.

The upper-level electrical engineering course work provides areas of concentration for in-depth study. Students can choose additional technical electives from outside the area of concentration to provide more breadth of knowledge.

To influence our society’s evolution, the electrical engineer must acquire an understanding of our society, our cultural heritage, and the human condition. The engineer must communicate ideas to other engineers and to the public. The Electrical Engineering program enables this via liberal and humanistic studies. The University Core Curriculum requirements allow students to expand their cultural and intellectual horizons by exposing them to the humanities and social sciences. Students learn written and oral communication skills in the core courses as well as in multidisciplinary engineering-science courses in the freshman and sophomore years. Students apply these skills in the humanities and social science courses as well as in laboratory/design courses in their major.

Technology is essential to our relationship with sound. Recording studios, theaters, social media platforms, film and television production, stadiums, and game studios rely on the competencies of sound engineers in order to function. Contemporary compositions for pop stars, film scores, and orchestras are also facilitated by the expanded capabilities of the latest musical interfaces.

Our Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs in Music and Sound Recording are based on the philosophy that musicians should have technical skills and sound recordists should know the art form they are recording. To this end, our students take courses in three interrelated areas: 1) music history, theory, and aesthetics; 2) sound recording methodology and technique; 3) musicianship.

Professional Guidance

A degree in Music and Sound Recording focuses on the craft and art of working with sound. Our professors are former and current engineers, producers, and composers with professional expertise that informs our curriculum. In combination with courses from the Tagliatela College of Engineering, students receive foundational skills in the generation and manipulation of sound and apply those skills in various ways.

We also believe that these competencies are best applied with an understanding of how music and sound function in the world. You will have opportunities to enhance your development with courses on the theory and history of music. Our instructors also serve as academic and career advisers, assisting students as they navigate four years of college and prepare for industry opportunities
