The Graduate Concentration in Integrated Health Care Leadership provides deep knowledge in topics that will help students navigate the increasingly complex health care industry environment, such as leadership and team building, health care accounting, law, and ethics, health care administration and delivery systems, managed care and integrated health networks, and strategic management in health care organizations.

Computer science is the study and design of computer systems, networks, software, and computing techniques. It is a dynamic field with a growing impact on the world today.

The Computer Science BA program is intended to permit students to combine interest in an alternate area (in humanities, arts, the professions or even natural science) with computer science in order to gain skills that increase their desirability with employers. Burning Glass found that adding software development or computer programming skills permits graduates to gain a 30+% salary premium over those without.

At UWM, students with a passion for nature and the environment can obtain a solid education in the natural sciences that are central to environmental science - biology, geosciences, and chemistry - and the social sciences of geography, economics, and politics which guide the application of conservation and environmental science in the real world.

Students at UWM can focus their conservation and environmental science work around land resources, water resources, biological resources/biodiversity, or environmental analysis. Internships and field work complement classroom learning. These opportunities can be found locally at UWM's own Field Station, on Lake Michigan aboard UWM's R/V Neeskay vessel, and at local agencies, or abroad in places as far flung as Iceland, Africa, Romania and the Caribbean.

The School of Freshwater Sciences offers a graduate program of studies providing students with advanced training and education in four areas:

Each of these focus areas is interrelated with the others, and includes biologic, physical, technologic and policy aspects of freshwater.

Learning Italian serves as a gateway to a wide variety of career opportunities, in finance, marketing, journalism, translation, and computer programming. Italy is also a leader in the fields of air and water quality control, transportation technology, food and beverage fields, robotics, interior design and fashion.

The courses in the Italian Program are designed to help students become fluent in both the language and culture of Italy. On the very first day of class, students begin speaking Italian, and gain valuable communication skills as they progress through the Intermediate and advanced courses. Students may choose from an array of Italian courses on various topics that enable them to understand key turning points in Italian history, society and politics, cultural trends, and movements in such arts as film and literature. Italian courses contribute to such programs as Global Studies and the certificate program in Food Studies.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers graduate programs of study in mathematics with specializations in the fields of algebra, analysis, topology, applied mathematics, probability and statistics, actuarial science, industrial mathematics, and atmospheric science.

The programs of study at the master’s level are designed to suit both the student intending to continue toward a PhD as well as the student who wishes to begin a professional career upon completion of the master’s program.

The student may prepare for a career in teaching at the secondary or college level and for a career in research in the academic, industrial, government, or business communities.

Psychology is a science that provides critical insights into human behavior. Psychologists investigate how behavior is modified in the face of psychiatric disorders or disease and how the brain gives rise to the rich tapestry of behaviors that govern our day-to-day experiences.

A psychology major gives you much career flexibility because of its emphasis on reasoning, problem solving, critical thinking, communication, research and writing. In addition to becoming a counselor or therapist, many students go into human resources, sales, marketing, business management, law, medicine, social work, real estate, social services, and more – all fields that require comprehensive knowledge of human behavior.

The Global Management track of UWM's Global Studies program focuses on the impact of globalization on business and the world economy. Global Studies-Management prepares students as future managers, capable of analyzing transnational issues; strategizing within a global, cross-cultural context; and implementing projects with a strong understanding of globalization's implications for the private and public sectors. Students are required to complete a study abroad program, an overseas internship, and study a foreign language, both practical and applied experiences that provide a distinct edge. This track will prepare students to assume leadership roles in many areas, but it will be advantageous especially in such fields as international business, consulting, education, government, and public policy. In addition, graduates of this track will meet the background course requirements for admission to an MBA program. The College of Letters and Science and the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business jointly award this degree.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre provides intensive specialized coursework for students seeking professional training in one of two separate tracks:

Performance

• The Performance BFA has two 130-credit tracks in either Acting or Musical Theatre.

Production

• The Production BFA is a singular 120-credit track embracing all the areas of production including design, costume, prop, scenery, lighting, sound, and stage management.

The BFA focuses on uncovering the potential of the individual student in the development of personal performance and/or production practices. The BFA curriculum supports student exploration of theatrical processes including new works as well as the established canon of dramatic literature. The program approaches the work in fresh and innovative ways, giving students a wide range of tools to speak to the contemporary moment both as actors on stage and as artists in production studios, rehearsal halls, and backstage.

Our performance programs are led by renowned performing artist faculty. Piano majors take private lessons and master classes, and perform regularly in concerts and recitals.
