Mechanical engineers focus on the analysis, design, automation, fabrication, testing, evaluation, and optimization of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineers are designers and problem solvers who are involved, in some way, with practically everything around us.

Historically, mechanical engineering (ME) includes two branches of study. The first deals with heat, fluids, and energy, such as combustion in a rocket engine, the wind and water flow past a racing yacht, or the design of a solar panel for a space station. The second area concerns force and motion in mechanical systems such as determining robot trajectories, analyzing automotive vibration and noise, and computing stress levels in the wings of a new aircraft.

The thesis option is for students who need or desire the full range of professional experience, including intensive research and writing. This option assures training in research techniques and in the preparation of scholarly papers. It culminates in the preparation and defense of a thesis based on original research. The student's program of study is an initiation into methods of focused study and research in a selected area of physiology or neuroscience.

The course option allows the student to plan a program of study that, along with the degree requirements, satisfies his or her educational needs and career objectives. This might be to extend knowledge for a current position, or as preparation for one of many health professions. The student's program of study typically culminates with two scientific writing courses broadly in the areas of Physiology and/or Neuroscience.

The program in selected studies allows students to pursue a self-designed course of study. It is intended for students with a definite educational objective that is not met by the majors presently offered by the College of Liberal Arts. While the program is free from several traditional requirements, students must meet other requirements and procedures to obtain the degree.

Classics is the foundation of Western Civilization, from Bronze Age Greece to the Fall of Rome. It encompasses a wide variety of subjects, including language, literature, history, history and philosophy of science, political science, philosophy, art history, archeology, and mythology.

Studying classics will teach you to think holistically about societies in the past. At the same time, you can see parallels in modern society. Our Founding Fathers looked to the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome to draft the documents by which we Americans live. Ninety percent of English words over two syllables come from Latin. The majority of medical and scientific terms are based on Greek and Latin. Classics can help you discover and rediscover new things in every aspect of your life.

Program Outcomes
The marketing program prepares you to work in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer organization. You will learn about the motivations and behaviors and motivations of consumers, how to impact those behaviors, and how to satisfy your costumers sustainably. Learn to create, communicate, and sell, with a thorough foundation in global issues, digital technologies, and data insights. We will teach you how to apply the marketing concepts and planning taught in the classroom in real-world situations.

The program in motion pictures provides a study of film as a fine art. The curriculum offers two options: the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre with a concentration in motion pictures production and the Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre with a concentration in motion pictures history, theory, and criticism.

The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures is devoted exclusively to the training and education of undergraduate students in the areas of dance, motion pictures, and theatre. These programs lead to the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.

The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures is empowered by the Ohio Revised Code to require particular preliminary training or talent for admission to specific programs, and each of the five B.F.A. degree programs has specific criteria for admission to each level of training. Students in all areas must earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 by the end of the freshman year to continue in a theatre arts major. Students who wish to be admitted as majors in acting, acting/musical theatre, or dance must successfully pass an audition or interview. Transfer students are admitted into B.F.A. programs on the basis of a successful audition, interview, or portfolio presentation. The department has an open admissions policy for students wishing to major in the B.A. programs in theatre studies and motion pictures history, theory, and criticism, and B.F.A. programs in design/technology and motion pictures production.

The Bachelor of Science curriculum in Chemistry approaches students' educational endeavors with a broad, integrated, and in-depth view. Departmental requirements, combined with university core requirements and electives, offer a balanced course load for students. This provides undergraduates with the opportunity to explore where their interests in the science field will lead them. This option combines all the required courses for admission to a professional school, which includes two years of chemistry, one year of physics, one year of mathematics, while utilizing recommended courses as science electives to fulfill the bachelor's requirements. This option allows students the freedom to explore their interests in many of the careers listed

Study from a social scientific perspective how humans create, transmit, receive, and respond to messages. The communication studies program will help you better understand intrapersonal and interpersonal communication. The mass communication program shapens your skills in mediated processes and effects, social media, digital media, and other multimedia processes. Your intellectual, organizational, and social abilities will increase through our new curriculum. These abilities can be applied to a variety of contexts, including interpersonal, organizational, and mediated settings. Your courses will underscore real-world experiences with theoretical frameworks. Your ability to critically think about the world around you cannot be overemphasized. We strive to help you participate in a democratic society as an informed and civically engaged citizen and demonstrate global and multicultural competence.

Professionally bound students may select BFAs in either Acting or Musical Theatre. These degrees both require students to master fundamental skills in Acting, Movement, Voice and Speech. Acting students continue with focus on a wide range of contemporary and period styles, with intensive focus in classical acting, stage combat and vocal skills. Musical Theatre students continue with a range of courses focusing on the broad ranger of styles from operetta to the most contemporary works. Musical Theatre majors study dance daily and intensive vocal performance. The professional acting and musical theatre programs are each an intensive, four-year progression of studies in acting, voice, movement, dance, and singing. Because courses in the Acting and Musical Theatre acting programs follow a set sequence, students are generally admitted only in the fall quarter. The Professional Actor Training Program is limited by audition to only selected, superior students who show promise of high achievement in acting and/or musical theatre. Retention in the Professional Actor Training Program is determined by periodic review. Students are retained in the program based on their growth and development as judged by the acting faculty
