The Master of Science program, leading to the M.S. degree, gives the student a broad base of fundamental theory and concentrated study in a particular area of specialization. This program is designed for the student who either desires a career in industry or government or wants to pursue further graduate study. Each student does experimental or theoretical research in an area of interest and writes a thesis.

The MS in Marketing Analytics and Insights (MS MAI) program is designed to provide graduate students with a strong base in marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and especially marketing analysis and insights. The program will provide students with the fundamental skills and tools to extract and analyze marketing data, and the opportunity to generate real-world interpretation, insights, and recommendations.

Program Outcomes

• Knowledge of the strategic role of marketing in organizations, including the key role of a marketing plan;
• Understanding of influences on consumer attitudes, beliefs, and, most importantly, their actions and decision processes;
• Ability to analyze marketing and financial data, formulate strategies and implement decisions;
• Ability to design a research study, collect data, and analyze data by using focus groups, primary data, secondary data and web data;
• Awareness of online marketing methods and how to use hands-on tools to increase meaningful web traffic;
• Hands-on, computer-based experience with marketing analytical tools to generate insights and marketing decisions that create value and build competitive advantage;
• Ability to apply “big data” analytic methodologies such as predictive analytics, data mining, text and other big data related technologies;
• Experience working with a real dataset to conduct a thorough data analysis, yielding insightful interpretations and proposed recommendations suitable for a business.

Course work in the Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration program combines lecture, lab, and field experiences with geology and the broader earth sciences, which include subjects such as water, soils, and atmosphere. Students pursuing the B.A. have wide latitude in their choice of coursework that allows them to supplement required courses with a broad sampling of other courses or to earn an additional credential such as a second major, a minor, or a certificate program.

The B.S. Degree Program in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration is designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and experience required for graduate study and to prepare students for professional careers in a variety of fields including energy resources, water resources, environmental protection, and environmental site investigation and remediation.

Wright State has partnered with Miami University to bring our students the Greater Miami Valley Joint MASW program since 2012. Due to the success of this joint program, which is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), both schools are forming their own, independent MASW programs. We expect both independent programs to be accredited by CSWE and fully operational when the joint program ends in May 2021. At that time, Wright State students who were admitted and are enrolled in good standing in the joint program will automatically be admitted and transitioned to the independent Wright State MASW program. Beginning in the 2020 Summer Semester, all MASW classes for Wright State students will be held on the Dayton campus.

The M.A.S.W. program at Wright State University prepares students to be advanced generalist competent and ethical social workers to engage and intervene with diverse populations. Full-time (2 years), part-time (3-4 years), or advanced standing (3 semesters) programs are offered to admitted graduate students.

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is Wright State University's standard college mathematics program. Select this program if you wish to study mathematics per se, rather than statistics, computing, or applications of mathematics.It may also be the program you choose if you intend to pursue mathematics (or closely related disciplines) at the graduate level. If you wish to prepare for entry into the job market, you can do so in this program by wisely choosing among the many available electives.

Modern mathematics has several major branches. The three most commonly studied by undergraduate mathematics majors are algebra, geometry and topology, and analysis. Well-prepared freshmen will have sampled parts of the first two of these in high school algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. In college, mathematics majors encounter the beginning topic in the third branch—analysis—in their calculus classes.

Wright State’s Microbiology and Immunology program has established a tradition of producing graduates who excel as doctors, dentists, and veterinarians in Ohio, across the U.S., and in countries around the world.

Wright State’s excellent facilities include access to constant temperature rooms, coldrooms, darkrooms, animal care facilities, and cell and tissue culture facilities. The equipment includes the latest available technology in fluorescent microscopes, flow cytometry, and mass spectrometers.

You will learn about the human body and how it interfaces with its immune system to battle foreign organisms. Pursue a specialty in areas like immunology, virology, immunotoxicology, DNA and conventional vaccine development, and molecular genetics. Economics is a social science that studies how people manage resources and how they can make the best use of available resources.  Economics majors learn to make decisions that are vital to the success of government agencies, businesses, and nonprofits.

An economics degree is widely regarded as one of the most versatile of all collegiate majors.  Economics students are well prepared for a wide array of occupations, giving them many career options and tremendous flexibility on the job market.  This versatility is especially valuable in a constantly changing world and is demonstrated by our graduates’ ability to be placed and pursue careers in many occupational fields including economics, government, financial services and banking, marketing and demand forecasting, management, analytics, and supply chain management.  Some graduates pursue graduate studies in economics, business, law, or public administration.

Economics students learn a logical and ordered way of looking at problems faced by individuals, private organizations, government, and society.  The field of economics teaches students critical and analytical skills that are valued by most professions.  Studying economics also exposes students to a broad spectrum of economic and social issues, providing a valuable perspective to their professional and personal lives.

Economics graduates are able to make or help make most of the key administrative decisions that are faced by modern government and business organizations.  Examples include: leading a cultural nonprofit to maximize its community impact; balancing resources for a county’s poverty programs; improving the production efficiency of a small business; or initiate a large company’s effort to identify new markets for its products.

Studying one of the modern languages at Wright State will help you improve your ability to read, write, and speak in another language, study how that language is used in a social context, and become a more enlightened citizen. You will also learn about the history, politics, culture, media, and literature of your chosen country and study their economic and educational systems.

New technologies have increased global opportunities, and studying a modern language prepares you to work with people all over the world. Government and non-governmental agencies have discovered a critical need for college graduates with foreign language skills.

The Greek major allows students to focus primarily on the study of Greek language, literature, and culture. Students are required to take 7 semesters of Greek language. Additional electives cover courses in a diverse range of subjects relating to the study of the Classical world.
