Course work in the Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration program combines lecture, lab, and field experiences with geology and the broader earth sciences, which include subjects such as water, soils, and atmosphere. Students pursuing the B.A. have wide latitude in their choice of coursework that allows them to supplement required courses with a broad sampling of other courses or to earn an additional credential such as a second major, a minor, or a certificate program.

The Bachelor of Science curriculum offers a broad, integrated, and in-depth approach to the life sciences. Departmental requirements consist of a balanced core of courses selected from several subject areas, combined with elective courses from the Department of Biological Sciences and other life science departments such as Neuroscience, Cell Biology and Physiology, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This degree program can accommodate students with such differing interests and objectives as graduate work in molecular biology, laboratory work in microbiology, or field work in ecology. The B.S. degree also can serve as preprofessional preparation for programs such as medical, dental, or veterinary sciences, or for education licensure.

• Students completing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences will be able to:

Studying one of the modern languages at Wright State will help you improve your ability to read, write, and speak in another language, study how that language is used in a social context, and become a more enlightened citizen. The Theatre Studies program combines studies in theatrical subjects with broad preparation in the liberal arts to prepare students for a wide range of careers. Graduates have gone on to pursue careers in professional theatre, education, public service, and countless other fields. Because of the focused curriculum, the Theatre Studies program allows the student to take a second major or to pursue minor concentrations in two or three other academic areas.

Due to the strength of Wright State’s theatre production program, the Theatre Studies student can acquire a high level of both practical and theoretical knowledge and experience, a distinction not afforded theatre students in programs with less extensive production emphases.

Theatre Studies students are encouraged to diversify their education in a variety of disciplines. The major in Theatre Studies is generally considered to be preparation for further study at the graduate level.

Mechanical engineers focus on the analysis, design, automation, fabrication, testing, evaluation, and optimization of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineers are designers and problem solvers who are involved, in some way, with practically everything around us.

Historically, mechanical engineering (ME) includes two branches of study. The first deals with heat, fluids, and energy, such as combustion in a rocket engine, the wind and water flow past a racing yacht, or the design of a solar panel for a space station. The second area concerns force and motion in mechanical systems such as determining robot trajectories, analyzing automotive vibration and noise, and computing stress levels in the wings of a new aircraft.

The honors program in English is designed to encourage and recognize superior academic accomplishments by English undergraduates. With the approval of the chair of the English department and the departmental honors advisor, students who meet the eligibility standards may enter the English honors program before the beginning of their senior year. Students may be admitted to the program on the recommendation of any member of the English department faculty, or students may petition to enter the program. Under the direction of a faculty tutor, students in the honors program will complete an honors project that culminates in their writing an honors thesis or project report. Program Learning Outcomes:
All graduates with a B. A. in English will be:

• Informed readers, able to formulate readings of texts based on their knowledge of literary historical contexts and of basic critical strategies;
• Skilled writers, able to develop a thesis and sustain a coherent written argument about literature using secondary sources.

Welcome to the Chemistry Department's Graduate Program at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio! As faculty members, we look forward to working with you as you continue your education in the field of chemistry. You will find the graduate education experience at Wright State University an interesting and exciting transition from student to independent scientist. Graduate students begin this program by taking courses in Chemistry very much as they did as undergraduates. Upon the completion of this program, the student will present a thesis describing their own research, which contributes to the body of new knowledge in chemistry. Actually, the progress is not the simple progression that the foregoing statement might imply. This program takes approximately two years of hard work, and while you are taking courses, usually you will be serving as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses. The experience and knowledge you obtain in this program will remain with you always. A productive chemist never loses the attitude of an inquiring student.

The Department of Chemistry offers a research-based program of study in two dedicated Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs. The M.S. degree in Chemistry is available with research concentrations in the traditional areas of Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, and Physical & Theoretical Chemistry as well as in Environmental, Polymer & Materials and Bioorganic Synthetic Chemistry and in Chemical Education.

The B.S. in physics degree is designed for students who wish to gain a strong foundation in experimental and theoretical physics along with a solid background in mathematics that wish to pursue graduate school in physics or a related field, such as engineering, or directly enter the workforce and a career in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field.

Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles and methods to solve problems in the medical and biological areas. Students in this program work with living systems, apply advanced technology to complex problems in medical care, and observe how their work directly impacts the delivery of human health care. Specialized areas of BME include bioinstrumentation; biomaterials; biomechanics; cellular, tissue, and genetic engineering; clinical engineering; medical imaging; orthopedic engineering; and systems physiology.

Our graduate Electrical Engineering program is highly respected within the industry, and we have placed hundreds of graduates with major international corporations and research institutions. Students have the opportunity to conduct research in many areas, including robotics, VLSI circuit design, power electronics, microwave theory, control theory, sensor data fusion, and digital signal and image processing.
