You will initially study all areas of photography in the Certificate IV and upon successful completion, advance to areas of specialisation in the Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging.

The one-year Certificate IV is designed to reflect the role of individuals working as photographers' assistants. You will learn to apply a broad range of skills in lighting, image capture, enhancements, manipulation and print output.

Upon successful completion, you are encouraged to apply and advance into areas of specialisation in the Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging. This is also a one-year qualification, where you’ll produce highly professional folios of work both on location and in studio and gain technical skills to plan, carry out and evaluate photo imaging services.

In the Diploma of Information Technology you will be guided by experienced teachers with extensive industry experience to develop a project portfolio designed to help launch a career in IT.

In RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics) (Honours) degree, you’ll learn about mechatronics, robotics, advanced materials, automated systems and the simulation and modelling of manufacturing processes.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) refers to the application of scientific principles to understand the risks to the safety and health of people in workplaces and to take action to control these.

Occupational health and safety is a multidisciplinary profession examining the technical and social aspects of work with applications in most industries and commerce.

The course focuses on the science and technology of risk management through assessment and evaluation of hazards and development of specific control mechanisms.

Learn how to apply a risk management model to hazards in the workplace, allowing you to recognise the context, evaluate the risk, and generate control solutions. You will use the model of OHS Professional Practice for problem solving which involves gathering information about the issue, diagnosing the issue, developing and implementing appropriate interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness, all the while communicating with relevant stakeholders.
You will develop advanced knowledge in:

• The global concepts of health, safety and work, and the implications that these have in organisations
• The socio-political and organisational context in which work occurs and how this impacts work design and its effects on the workers
• The physical, ergonomic and psychosocial causes of fatalities, injuries and ill health arising from work
• Recognition of hazards, assessment and evaluation of their risk, and development of suitable controls

You will learn to apply these concepts in a range of contexts, allowing you to develop confidence and proficiency in your professional OHS and occupational hygiene practice. Many of your assessments will incorporate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) by focusing on OHS issues in your work situation.

In RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours), you'll learn the processes behind the production and distribution of electricity.

Electrical engineering at RMIT is about more than just learning the theories behind the discipline. It's about putting those theories into practice to solve problems. In this professionally accredited degree, you’ll learn to design, develop and supervise the manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of electrical systems. You’ll also work on systems for the generation, distribution, utilisation, and control of electric power, electronic and control systems used for various domestic and industrial applications.

You’ll develop high-level technical and design skills and focus on a specialist area such as energy conversion, power systems, renewable energy, high-voltage equipment and control engineering. 

Work integrated learning opportunities will provide you with real world experience. You’ll design creative solutions through inspiring and sustainable design-and-build projects, take part in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge, complete industry capstone projects and undertake work placements in Australia or overseas. 

This degree offers insight into the social, political and ethical aspects of law within Australia and other countries and develops skills in law and alternative dispute resolution practices.

You'll be prepared for employment in private law firms, government, corporations, tribunals, courts, NGOs and community legal services.
You will gain knowledge and skills in legal research and practice, critical thinking, policy analysis, civil and criminal law, international human rights and alternative dispute resolution processes. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of the legal system and become better equipped to create a more just and responsible world.

In consultation with your discipline honours coordinator and your supervisor, you'll be allocated a project to develop your skills to an advanced level.

These projects are developed for honours students and may be a preliminary exploration, a component of a bigger research project, or part of an existing or new collaboration. All projects draw from the wide range of disciplines taught across RMIT's science programs. Many projects involve substantial cross-disciplinary work.
